QUASI RISOLTO - Quickcam Express e UBUNTU 8.10 - HELP ME

Buongiorno a tutti, sono un nuovo arrivo nel favoloso mondo di Ubuntu. Fino a questo punto ho provato a far da me, a rompere il meno possibile agli altri ma........... HELP ME!!!!!!

Ho una vecchia cam Quickcam Express e al momento del passaggio a Ubuntu da Win ho provato a utilizzarla. Inserita non veniva riconosciuta. Poi leggi di qua e di là, smanetta, fai, finalmente CAMORAMA l'ha vista, anche se la qualità non era delle migliori. L'ho comunque provata con amsn, e non c'è stato verso, visto che mi diceva che ero dietro a un Firewall (Router NetGear) benché avessi sbloccato sul router le porte dedicata alla cam da amsn. Mi son fermato lì. Poi dopo le vacanze mi son dedicato nuovamente alla cam: sorpresa!!! Camorama mi dice:

Couldn't connect to video device (/dev/video0)
Please check connection

E in effetti non c'è nessun video0!!!!!

Che posso fare?

Risolto questo ho poi un altro quesito da sottoporre

I driver li avevo messi su, infatti con CAMORAMA vedevo la webcam, anche se in qualità pessima. Poi ho provato a installare un decoder DVB-T (e nn ci sono riuscito). Quando ho riprovato la cam con CAMORAMA, questi mi dava errore dicendo che nn c'era nessun /dev/vide0 (e in effetti sono andato in /dev e nn cera niente che iniziasse con "video").

Come posso rimuovere tutti i driver e ripartire da zero?

Ho rimosso tutti i driver poi ho lanciato:

alessandro@fenice:~$ sudo apt-get install qc-usb-source

visto che in wiki si dice che:

Logitech

QuickCam Express

qc-usb

After compilation of the module using qc-usb-source

Make sure the build-essential package and the correct linux-headers package are installed. Install the package qc-usb-source, uncompress the archive /usr/src/qc-usb-modules.tar.gz and execute /usr/src/modules/qc-usb-source/quickcam.sh (Note: The driver is reliable and included in other distributions like Mandriva, it could be included in Ubuntu as well)

L'archivio che ho ottenuto, però, non è però qc-usb-modules.tar.gz bensì  qc-usb.tar.bz2. Ho comunque lanciato:

alessandro@fenice:/usr/src$ sudo tar -xf qc-usb.tar.bz2

E nn ho ottenuto nessun errore.

quickcam.sh non esiste e nn l'ho potuto lanciare, allora, visto che c'è quickcam.h e leggendo il README ho lanciato

alessandro@fenice:/usr/src/modules/qc-usb$ sudo make

e qui mi ha generato tutta una serie di errori e nn sono più riuscito ad andare avanti.

Sei sicuro di avere tutto il necessario per compilare? Per esempio build-essential e linux-headers come dice nel wiki.

Si build-essential ce l'ho (è in verde in Synaptic). Per quanto riguarda linux-headers ho i seguenti:

Ho tentato con i driver gspca (che in alcuni forum sono consigliati per la Quickcam Express 046d:0870) e ho installato e scompattato gspca-source ma, al solito, quando ho lanciato il fatidico make ecco cosa ho ottenuto:

Penso che sia colpa di qualche aggiornamento, perche il, ad esempi, fino a un mesetto fa la mia webcam andava benissimo e aquisivo in alta risoluzione. Ora da qualche tempo acquisice solamente a bassa risoluzione.

Niente, come non detto, oggi magicamente FUNZIONA!!! il mio problema e stato risolto.
Prova a aggiornare il sistema:
Sistema - Amministrazione - Gestore aggiornamenti.

Prova, magari e stato risolto anche il tuo di problema.

Il problema secondo me è qui make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.27-9-generic'
non riesce ad entrare in questa directory, hai aggiornato il kernel??? Hai fatto una rimozione non completa del vecchio???

dai un uname -r e vedi il kernel che stai usando...
poi /usr/src/modules/gspca/gspca_core.c: In function ‘spca5xx_probe’: hai questo modulo caricato che non permette l'esecuzione dell'altro sudo modprobe -r spca5xx_probe...

Controlla queste cose e poi riprova... Sinceramente con queste web hanno creato un casino... Cmq a mia sorella non fungeva out of the box con ubuntu 8.10 e kernel 2.6.27-11. Boh purtroppo a distanza nemmeno posso fare miracoli poi le chiedo un lsusb così al max ti dico la mia come è dato che non funge nè con camorama nè con cheese. BOh PRova per ora questo che poi ti faccio sapere... Per la rimozione completa del Kernel usa cerca c'è un wiki fatto bene ora non trovo il link...

Cercando tramite google lo stesso tipo di errori che ho segnalato su questo post, mi sembra di aver capito che ci sono in quanto 8.10 si porta già nel kernel i driver gspca. Ecco qua:

Finalmente ho trovato il comando (20 min. che lo cerco)

Prova a webcam attaccata (meglio se l'attacchi ancora prima di accendere il computer) a smanettare con questo programma.
