Anch'io confermo, provata la 10.10 alpha 1 e la maggior parte dei problemi rimangono. Grazie al nuovo kernel invece sono stati risolti: scheda di rete integrata funionante out of the box e wifi abilitato all'avvio

Arrivato ieri, tutto contento lo apro lo avvio configuro windows e subito mi vengono giramenti di testa allora spengo e installo crunchbang 10 e rilevo più o meno tutti i problemi elencati fino adesso, però l' indicatore della batteria viene caricato anche se mi senga la batteria a zero, al contario di ubuntu che l' indicatore non me lo visualizza nemmeno.

Visto che crunchbang 10 è una alpha 1 dico "ora provo ubuntu e sicuramente funzionerà tutto" invece stessi problemi  :'( provo la versione 32 bit e niente cambia però il tasto in alto a destra vicino allo eject se lo premo fa accendere e spegnere la luce blu, ma a cosa serve quel tasto? serve per passare da una scheda grafica all' altra?

Comunque non contento ho fatto un' altra prova, mi sono scaricato Sabayon 5.3 con kde sempre in 32 bit
sorpresa sorpresa..non si è neanche avviato  e se non ho visto male usa un kernel più aggiornato di Ubuntu.

Spero che presto si risolvano questi problemi, per il momento almeno quelli della batteria e della scheda video.

Appena compro il portatile guardo cosa si può fare. Se dopo l'acquisto non esce nulla di nuovo per l'acpi, ci darò un'occhiata io.

Per la scheda video con un po' di smadonnamenti ce la si può fare(per lo switch della scheda a caldo), ma non aspettatevi 3d dalla ati ancora. Il chip è uscito a febbraio ed è relativamente nuovo. Abbiamo accelerazione 2d e KMS dai driver open source con il 3d in arrivo presto. Le opzioni sono queste:

* usare xf86-video-ati con KMS e 2D e vga_switcheroo per switchare a caldo (intel ha 3d, anche se un po' più scarsino)
* usare il driver proprietario ati, ma scordarsi KMS e vga_switcheroo. Lo switch della scheda si fa da BIOS

la cosa più fastidiosa è la batteria che non viene rilevata

Aggiungo anche che se vado in preferenze audio e seleziono Hardware - "redwood HDMI Audio" e uscita - "redwood HDMI Audio"
non si sente niente.

grazie mille.

Da quel che vedo acer-wmi viene caricato, ma si incasina con il DSDT. C'è da inviare il dsdt al mantainer di acer-wmi. (in teoria fixare questo vorrebbe dire sistemare il problema della batteria)

bisogna aggiornare alsa per avere audio funzionante da quanto ne so, e poi output HDMI dovrebbe essere l'uscita via cavo HDMI(appunto) e non quella delle casse Ops, è il nome della scheda.

Ciao admiral0, volevo chiederti delle cose:
la prima riguarda il DSDT, in realtà la DSDT non è la tabella che il BIOS passa al sistema operativo per la gestione delle varie funzioni ACPI?
la seconda è: come si può fare a far risolvere il bug che abbiamo dal mantainer di acer-wmi? come si contatta?

Puoi fare un'altra cosa per soddisfare la mia morbosa curiosità?

la prima riguarda il DSDT, in realtà la DSDT non è la tabella che il BIOS passa al sistema operativo per la gestione delle varie funzioni ACPI?
la seconda è: come si può fare a far risolvere il bug che abbiamo dal mantainer di acer-wmi? come si contatta?
1. Esatto. Le possibilità sono che acer-wmi non veda varie cose, ma la cosa che mi preoccupa è che non vedo il codice di gestione batteria specifico per i acer, quindi è probabile che a. Il dsdt è sminchiato. b. sono dei "pasticcioni" e c'è bisogno di codice custom per vedere la batteria.
2. Bisogna contattare Carlos Corbacho che è l'attuale mantainer di acer-wmi. Vedo se c'è su IRC.

Va bene se ti allego il file dsdt.hex con un link di megaupload?, perchè qui non so se me lo fa allegare avendo un' estensione .hex

La mia DSDT table sono riuscito a ricompilarla e a togliergli tutti gli error, però poi ho provato con un kernel custom di caricare quella dsdt ma niente da fare! Il kernel non partiva e allora ho lasciato perdere.
La mia DSDT però riguarda un Acer Aspire 5745G e non un TimelineX.
Fatemi sapere se riuscite a risolvere qualcosa.

Mmmm, mi sa che ci vorrà molto tempo prima che si risolva questo problema ed è già tre volte che non mi accorgo che lampeggia la luce della batteria e mi si spegne di colpo il pc, che fastidio,
immagino che non posso fare altro che aspettare giusto?
mi spiace non poter fare niente per risolvere, io non so neanche come si ricompila una DSDT,
confido in voi!!

Ciao, ho visto solo ora che la discussione è andata avanti. Ahime ho guardato qualcosa in rete ma il problema rimane sempre lo stesso. Se può essere d'aiuto allego l'output dei mio sistema ai comandi: lspci, lsmod, dmesg e dsdt.
