Da una Uni Argentina sezione : Computer Science , Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering

Computer architecture refers to those attributes of a system visible to a pro-
grammer or, put another way, those attributes that have a direct impact on the logi-
cal execution of a program.
Examples of architectural attributes include the instruction set, the number of bits used to
represent various data types (e.g., numbers, characters), I/O mechanisms, and techniques
for addressing memory.
Computer organization refers to the operational units and their interconnections
that realize the architectural specifications.
Organizational attributes include those hardware details transparent to the programmer,
such as control signals; interfaces between the computer and peripherals; and the memory
technology used.

Ciao harrykar :)

Ciao Toschio :)

Dunque non me la sento di fare critica fra testi di tale livello(altissimo) --in breve sarebbe come cercar il sesso degli angeli -- riguardo il testo di AndrewT posso confermare che anche quello e' considerevole (anche lui e' un gran autore e pedagogo IMHO) e spiego il perche' non me la senta criticare fra testi di questo spessore(che data la loro valenza possono in prima istanza andare bene qualsiasi di loro si scelga --indifferentemente-- );
sono fermamente convinto dalla mia esperienza personale sinora ma anche confortato da quel che si dice in giro(per essere ancor piu' olistici) che per un dato tema non ci sia un testo onnicomprensivo questo non e' possibile a prescindere dalla validita' intrinseca del testo (se fosse vero questo per andare al nostro campo le reti, la collaborazione/cooperazione, il FOSS ecc non esisterebbero ;) ) ;
quindi consiglio sempre di munirsi di piu' di un testo(e meglio se di un autore pedagogicamente valevole) per un dato argomento perche' ogni autore (ed e' umano) vede il tema da un certo punto di vista o al massimo da certe angolazioni , un altro autore vede lo stesso esatto tema da un angolazione anche leggermente diversa che puo far comodo ecc ;

Conversational Computer Systems
http://www.freescience.info/go.php?page ... ks&id=2616

Description...
Spoiler
Mostra
This book discusses how human language techniques can be embedded in human-computer dialogue to make
"talking computers" conversational. It uses an interdisciplinary approach to explain application of speech
technologies to computer interfaces.

Significant knowledge of higher mathematics as well as digital signal process
ing is assumed by many speech texts. These disciplines provide an important
level of abstraction and on a practical level are tools required for any serious
development of speech technology itself. But to be accessible to a wider audience,
this book makes little use of mathematics beyond notation from basic algebra.
This book provides an intuitive, rather than rigorous, treatment of speech signal
processing to aid the reader in evaluation and selection of technologies and
to appreciate their operation and design tradeoffs.

FreeScience.info is an initiative to substitute real libraries with
a virtual one, where it will be possible download all books, in a printable
format, mainly PDF.

This initiative is motivated by the fact that copyright time on scientific books
is finished. In fact many branches of mathematics and/or physics ,
see for instance the electromagnetism, are old and so there is no more reason to
continue to pay copyright on books that treat arguments older than fifty years.

Moreover even when a book contains some modern development
usually it address to a restrict public and so it is no convenient
for editors to publish it or to increase its price.

But nowadays there is a so large amount of free books around the net that soon
every information will be available online without the need of buy any books.

Futhermore the introduction of new license as Creative Commos will accellerate this process.
The goal of FreeScience.info is to become the largest free library of science.

Foundations of Computation by David Eck & Carol Critchlow : http://math.hws.edu/FoundationsOfComput ... .1_6x9.pdf

Description

Foundations of Computation is a free textbook for a one-semester course in theoretical computer science. It has been used for several years in a course at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The course has no prerequisites other than introductory computer programming. The first half of the course covers material on logic, sets, and functions that would often be taught in a course in discrete mathematics. The second part covers material on automata, formal languages, and grammar that would ordinarily be encountered in an upper level course in theoretical computer science.

Version 2.3 (Summer 2010) added a section on pushdown automata; aside from that, there were only minor corrections and changes. The most recent version, 2.3.1 (Summer 2011), is a very minor update, with one new proof and a few corrections.
