Fax Brother

Ciao a tutti.
Mi trovo a dover installare un fax multifunzione Brother MFC - 7360N (fax, stampante, scanner, fotocopiatrice) in ubuntu 11.10. L'installazione sembra avvenire correttamente, ma quando si lancia la stampa, ubuntu "dice" che la stampa è stata fatta, ma dalla stampante non esce nulla.
Il fax-stampante l'ho collegato con porta usb (non in rete).
Qualcuno ha qualche aiuto da darmi?

La stampante è stata rilevata, ma non ha caricato il modulo driver usblp, dovuto ad un bug in una libreria di CUPS.

Da terminale dai questo comando senza la stampante inserita:

inserisci la stampante Brother, prova a stampare qualcosa.

Ho scritto il comando, ma mi dice comando non trovato.
Ho provato a stampare e nello stato della stampa mi dice che la stampa è ancora in corso (era un foglio con scritto "prova" in piccolino).

Ho visto che ci sono più driver possibili per la stessa stampante. Sono tutti uguali? Posso scaricare quello che voglio? Io ho scaricato LPR driver rpm 2.1.0-1 38 KB 2011.Feb.23; va bene?

Scusa la mia completa inesperienza, ma dopo averlo scaricato, non riesco a installarlo.

Prego, di nulla.

Per Ubuntu devi scaricare ed installare i due pacchetti .deb (LPR driver e cupswrapper driver) e non gli .rpm che sono per altre distro Linux (es. Red Hat, Fedora etc.).

Quelli che hai scaricato in formato .rpm non riesci ad installarlo perchè non è per Ubuntu, come ti ho detto sopra.

Ciao, ho provato a fare come hai detto. Il pacchetto LPR driver riesco a installarlo, mentre per il secondo, cupswrapper driver, avvio l'installazione e si visualizza la barra dell'installazione, ma quando termina l'operazione, mi ricompare ancora il pulsante (del software center) con "installa". Quindi non riesco a installare il secondo pacchetto.

Inoltre penso di aver peggiorato la situazione, perchè, non vedendo risultati, ho provato a togliere la stampante con l'intenzione di rimetterla, ma quando inserisco il cavo usb, non mi compare più tra le stampanti (almeno prima mi veniva chiesto di installare i drivers e mi compariva il nome della stampante).

Ti riposto i comandi che mi avevi chiesto di postarti qualche giorno fa.

Credo di aver fatto una gran confusione nel mio pc. Non riesco neanche a togliere quel pacchetto di driver che sono riuscito a installare.
Hai qualche idea su quello che posso fare almeno per ripristinare la situazione antecedente a tutta la confusione che provocato? E' possibile fare un "ripristino" come è possibile fare in windows?
Per la stampante ormai non credo che riuscirò più a installarla. Pazienza. Almeno mi basterebbe ripristinare la situazione di partenza.

Se hai ancora la pazienza di darmi delle indicazioni mi sono molto utili, comunque grazie per tutte le altre info.

Da terminale dai questi comandi:

ora prova ad installare il pacchetto .deb cupswrapper driver, se riesci ad installarlo, poi dai questo comando:

vai in impostazioni Stampa, rimuovi il driver (icona Brother MFC- 7360N) e rifai la procedura di installazione della stampante.

Se non riesci ad installare cupswrapper driver e vuoi rimuovere anche LPR driver, vai su Gestore pacchetti e su Ricerca scrivi LPR o LPR driver, dovrebbe apparire il pacchetto, lo selezioni e col tasto destro vai su Rimuovi completamente.
