Ho fatto come hai detto Guiodic, lo xorg l'ho sistemato così:

Ho poi provato a dare

glxgears

ma la velocità è meno della metà rispetto a prima (era a circa 1200 FPS) e mi dice che ha rilevato una xpress200 invece di una xpress 1100.
Consigli?

Aspetto qualche settimana a passare a Jaunty, così esce la versione definitiva e magari avrò dell'altro tempo disponibile.

di conviene fare

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

questo rimette le opzioni di default.

Poi modifichi xorg aggiungendo solo le opzioni necessarie che sono:

Option "AGPMode" "8"
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "ColorTiling" "on"

nella sezione device.

poi riavvi X

non badare a quel che dice glxgears, devi giudicare tu le prestazioni di compiz, lo scrolling di firefox, ecc.

Allora, la situazione:
Con gli open, cinelerra non si blocca quasi più e sono arrivato alla fine del video.
Per quanto riguarda il sistema, con gli effetti attivi è visibilmente più lento. Non mi interessa il cubo e giochini vari, ma alcuni effetti di compiz sono proprio comodi

EDIT: Però non riesco ad elaborare il filmato e quindi a creare il video.

Con gli open sono riuscito a creare il video dall'immagine originale, ma non a salvarlo (si chiude comunque il programma).
Sto cercando di trovare dove cinelerra salva il file di backup ma non lo trovo.
Sapete anche dirmi che estensione ha?
HOME/.bcast/backup.xml
se portassi il backup in un altro pc assieme all'immagine potrei riuscire a creare il video?
