Non ho la possibilità di impostare lo schermo in 16:9 con la risoluzione 1280x800, ma soltanto 16:10
Come mai?  :-\

nvidia GeForce 8300 gs 128mb non so se sono installati i driver...
I driver comunque sono in windows (nell'altra partizione), su ubuntu non so...
Forse li può cercare in C:/ boh...
Non me ne intendo molto... sono nuova di ubuntu

chi ti ha installato ubuntu e come? fai una cosa entra su ubuntu apri il terminale (Applicazioni - Accessori - Terminale)  e dai questi comandi poi posta qui tutto cio che esce: (fai copia incolla)

ti si apre di nuovo il testo di prima ma ora con i privilegi di amministratore, Togli il "#" che hanno davanti queste righe

Riavvia, e poi vai su Sistema - Amministrazione - Driver hardware e vedi se ce qualche Driver per la tua Scheda Video

Da Sistema - Amministrazione - Driver hardware sono comparsi i driver per l'nvidia, 2

Ho scelto il secondo e riavviato, ora però dice:

Sembra che il driver della scheda grafica non supporti le estensioni necessarie per utilizzare questo strumento. Utilizzare lo strumento del produttore dei driver?

Devo scegliere si o no?

Scegli si, comunque per mantenere le impostazioni che andrai a dare, da terminale
