penso basti modificare xorg.conf! in ogni caso che scheda video hai e posta xorg.conf! e dai anche un'occhiata al wiki su xorg

EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth 4
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" "1280x1024"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth 8
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" "1280x1024"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth 15
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" "1280x1024"
EndSubSection
