Ciao a tutti e ben trovati.
Premesso che oggi ho fatto degli aggiornamenti su Kubuntu, mi si è presentato l'errore in oggetto durante il riavvio.

In pratica parte la scritta "Starting up...", poi parte il caricamento della barra azzurra di Kubuntu, ma anzichè entrare nel sistema mi ritrovo una schermata nera con scritto:

Starting up...
Loading, please wait...
kinit: name_to_dev_t(/dev/disk/by-uuid/XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXX)=sda6 (8,6)
kinit: trying to resume from /dev/disk/by-uuid/XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXX

Le X sono i numeri che corrispondono al UUID della partizione sda6, cioè la partizione di swap!

Poi sotto ci sono scritte altre cose riguardo al supporto e c'è pure il link del forum (;D) e poi mi chiede il login e la password. Le inserisco ma rimango nella schermata nera, con la sola facoltà di scrivere dei comandi come da terminale.

Dopo qualche tentativo (inutile), ho scritto reboot, non sapendo che altro fare.

Ma, a parte che non ho capito bene come risolvere la cosa, oltretutto non uso l'ibernazione, mai usata. Anche perchè lo swap è condiviso da Ubuntu e Kubuntu.

Insomma, perchè è successa questa cosa? E come dovrei comportarmi?

Sto notando che ci sono tanti post con errori di boot dopo aggiornamenti e posso solo dedurre che dipendano dal nuovo kernel in testing ( il 21 se non erro).

Però c'è stato un aggiornamento del kernel, anche se è sempre il 2.6.24.19

Questo comando serve per conoscere l’UUID di TUTTE le partizioni (montate e non)

Potresti provare a sostituire il l'UUID origonale della partizione swap con il nuovo UUID corrispondente.

Ho provato quel comando e mi restituisce la stessa UUID che c'è in fstab (sia di Ubuntu che di Kubuntu), ed è la stessa che mi appare nella schermata nera quando cerco di accedere a Kubuntu.

E poi dimmi una cosa, ma le UUID delle partizioni possono cambiare in seguito a degli aggiornamenti?

@ matrixpenguin: come posto il risultato di quei "cat" se non riesco ad accedere all'interfaccia grafica?

Ho montato su Ubuntu la partizione di Kubuntu e ho copiato il file Xorg.0.log
Intanto posto questo. Per il "cat" vedremo quel che si può fare.

Mmm... interessante. Magari riuscissi a "riesumare" Kubuntu aggiungendo quella parolina magica al menu.lst!

Però ho la sensazione, leggendo il file Xorg.0.log che ho postato sopra, che di mezzo ci sia anche la complicazione dei driver Nvidia.

Infatti io avevo installato su Kubuntu i driver prelevati dal sito ufficiale della Nvidia, e la guida che ho seguito per fare ciò, indicava anche come reinstallare i suddetti driver ad ogni cambio di kernel.

Ora, il problema è che non so se è realmente cambiato il kernel, i numeri sono sempre gli stessi di prima, ovvero il 2.6.24.19.

E' questo che mi manda in confusione.

@ matrixpenguin: gli hai dato un'occhiata al file Xorg.0.log? ti dice niente? cmq provo a fare quello che mi hai detto.

La parolina magica "noresume" non ha risolto nulla.
L'unica differenza è che mi è comparso solo questo:

e poi il login e la password.

Quindi ho provato a fare quello che mi ha suggerito matrixpenguin, risultato:
- killall kdm seguito da kdm non ha sortito effetti;
- i 3 "cat" che mi hai dato da eseguire mi restituiscono "nessun file o directory"

io reinstallerei i driver.
male non penso che possa fare, male che vada sovrascrivi quelli che ci sono già...per il resto mi vengono poche idee, ho letto tutto il 3d ma non ho capito moltissimo :-\

Mi lascia perplessa il passaggio in cui dice

sarà sufficiente premete i tasti
CTRL+ALT+F1 e andate al terminale virtuale tty1
immettete user e password. poi semplicemente digitate

Io non so in che terminale sto, innanzitutto.
E poi, basta un semplice sh reinstalla-nvidia?
E il percorso?
