[Boot] scelta sistema operativo all'avvio
Ciao, premetto che ho dei file molto importanti per lavoro su Vista, vi faccio i complimenti per il sistema operativo che sto imparando ad usare. All'avvio GRUB mi dava l'opportunità di scegliere Ubuntu o vista. Oggi ho scaricato degli aggiornamenti da Vista e al riavvio Vista è sparito da Grub, col comando Sudo gedit /boot/rub/menu.lst ho provato ad inserire:
#Windows Vista
#(hd0,1)
#+1
ma nella scelta continua a non apparirmi Vista. Appena puoi ti prego di darmi una risposta perchè oggi sono bloccato senza il computer per il mio lavoro.

Posta tutto il file /boot/rub/menu.lst. E anche l'output di
Credo poi che tu debba togliere i cancelletti ma posta prima il file che lo controlliamo.

Grazie funziona, se ti va puoi spiegarmi cosa è successo e cosa vogliono dire i comandi che mi hai dato e quelli tra parentisi (o,1) ecc.

In pratica sono gli stessi comandi che avevi messo tu, solo che te li ho fatti mettere in fondo.
La cosa che avevi sbagliato era appunto il numero tra parentesi. (0,2) quello che avevi messo tu.
Infatti come si vede dalla tabella delle partizioni che hai postato
Vista è su /dev/sda2 Cioè la seconda partizione del primo (in questo caso unico) disco fisso. Però grub inizia a contare da zero, quindo devi digli di andare a cercare Vista in (hd 0,1) dove 0 sta per primo disco e 1 per seconda partizione.
ubuntu invece lo cerca in (hd 0,2) cioè 0= primo disco 2= terza partizione (infatti è su /dev/sda3).

Anche io mi trovo con lo stesso problema.. infatti vorrei impostare come boot primario il sistema operativo winXPpro.. posto la seguente lista di grub.. dove e come andrebbe modificata?

Nel tuo caso basta che cambi il numero di default che in automatico è 0. Se non ho contato male devi sostituire con 6
ti capitasse di aggiornare il kernel, si aggiungeranno delle nuove righe di ubuntu, in quel caso dovrai andare ad aumentare il numero del default. basta che cominci a contare i blocchi dallo 0 comunque.

Vorrei portare l'esempio di un mio conoscente che come me ha installato sia linux che win XP. A lui però, quando avvia la macchina, non compare la lista dei sistemi operativi, ma si avvia automaticamente XP.. solamente premendo "Esc" prima che si avvii Windows può accedere alla schermata di scelta tra i sistemi operativi installati. Sapreste indicarmi il modo per riprodurre la stessa cosa?

ok grazie però non riesco a salvare le modifiche effettuate al file. Quando premo Salva appare un'iconcina che mi avverte di non avere i diritti necessari per modificare il file, ma è normale?

usa il comando sudo kate o sudo writer a secondo della versione che hai (kubuntu/ubuntu ecc...) per modificare il file...
