Mettere Xp da Ubuntu

Ciao a tutti!

Sono qui per farmi linciare...
Allora, ho messo su da poco Ubuntu, e l'ho avanzato oggi alla 8.10. il problema nn è questo
Vorrei tornare ad avere Windows Xp, dato che da Ubuntu nn riesco a far partire World of Warcraft, la cosa per cui uso di più il computer.
Ubuntu è fantastico, veloce e scattante, ma se nn funziona Wow...

Ho pensato di fare un Dual boot, ma sinceramente sono un po in panico.
Come faccio a partizionare sda1, dove ho su Ubuntu?
Usando Gpartd Live direte coi.. come?? Io nn ci sono riuscito.

Posso farlo partire dal Live cd di Ubuntu, fatto a suo tempo (versione 8.04, da problemi a inserislo ora che sono a 8.10?).
So che voi nn c'entrate, ma sul Cd di windows ci sarà uno strumento per partizionare?!?

Spero qualcuno mi possa aiutare, nn linciatemi ve ne prego, Wow su Ubuntu è proprio ingestibile.. almeno da un niubbo come me..

Si si, ma è un problema di scheda grafica da quel che ho capito.

Nn vorrei esser costretto a riformattare tutto e usare unicamente Windows... mi farebbe girare un bel po i ***, dopo averlo scoperto Ubuntu è difficile da abbandonare...

Installa gparted da synaptic e ti crei una nuova partizione in ntfs dove poi installerai windows.
Prima di installarlo però e' bene che ti salvi i dati importanti, poiche i partizionamenti sono operazioni che possono dare problemi, e che ti scarichi e masterizzi supergrub disk per ripristinare il grub ed avere cosi il dual boot.

già scaricato gparted, ma nn mi fa partizionare il disco su cui sta lavorando il so..

Inoltre.. piccolo dettaglio fondamentale,  questo è un portatile, è consigliabile utilizzare un dualboot su un portatile?

Nn ho capito che fa supergrub disk, puoi spiegarti melgio per favore

Quando installi win il suo bootloader ti sovrascrive grub, e con supergrub disk lo ripristini.
Supergrub disc lo avvii come bootcd.

Non puoi ridemensionare una partizione se è in uso. Devi quindi usare gparted dal live cd di ubuntu oppure scaricare e masterizzare il gparted live cd e far partire quello.

Molto meglio e più veloce Gparted Live! E una volta installato Xp non ti scoraggiare ma dovrai prepararti a due o tre passaggi un pò rognosi...

No, non devi installare. All'avvio devi selezionare la voce "Prova ubuntu senza modificare il computer". Cosa non hai capito di gparted?

Son riuscito a istallare Xp, e ovviamente partiva direttamente quello, senza chiedermi di scegliere sitema operativo, fatto partre supergrub disk, ma ora mi parte direttamente ubuntu..ancora senza farmi scegliere, come rimedio??  :-\

Apri il file con sudo gedit e commenta (aggiungi il cancelletto davanti) hiddenmenu

salva e riavvia

un valore compreso tra 5 e 10 (o più alto se vuoi)

infatti mi mostra solo Ubuntu nelle due versioni di kernel ( ???)
provo ad aggiungere le righe postate.

Attenzione! Nel file menu.lst la partizione (hd0,0) è quella di ubuntu.
@giackgiack: Prova a postare il risultato del comando sudo fdisk -l per trovare la partizione di windows.
