Purtroppo idem con patate....

Ok a questo punto io opterei per la via del live cd.
Avvi la live vedrai i tuoi 3 filesystem trova quello del nuovo ubuntu (attenzione a non confonderlo con quell'altro) una volta dentro cerchi il /boot/grub/menu.lst e ne fai una copia che salvi o in una pennetta esterna (meglio) oppure nella home di ubuntu vecchio.

Esci dalla live , rientri nel tuo ubuntu e mi posti il menu.lst che hai copiato.IO ti aspetto, sta diventando una questione di principio, deve funzionare!!

Io sono l'interessato (oltre ad essere abituato alle notti insonne), ma tu sentiti pure libero di andartene se vuoi. Io appena finisco (non credo che la cosa sia lunghissima ma 20 min. se ne vanno tutti) ti posto tutto e appena puoi rispondi...

mi spiace farti fare lavoroni lunghi, sicuramente i maestri del forum avrebbero risolto più facilmente, ma ce la faremo.

Veramente sarei io che faccio fare lavoroni a te (mi sento un negriero...). Comunque la cosa è stata molto più veloce di quello che pensavo.

In effetti ho trovato 3 File System: 1 della Live (immagino) in cui non ho trovato il file menu.lst, poi ho trovato altri due File System. In uno ho trovato il file su cui hai smanettato tu, nell'altro ho trovato quello cui penso ti riferissi.

Secondo te, sostituendo quelle tre righe che mi hai fatto incollare  con questo frammento (nota la variazione in neretto e sottolineato) potrebbe funzionare?

Non considerarlo. Se ho ben capito, in questo modo modificherei il grub dell'Ubuntu che invece non voglio modificare.

Semmai dovrebbe essere così:

che ne dici?

A leggere questo menu.lst mi verrebbe un altra idea ancora, invertire l'ordine di boot degli hd nel bios. Se funziona non occorre nemmeno editare il grub.
Se vuoi provare, intanto mi studio la configurazione delle tre righe.

Ho già provato a cambiare l'ordine del boot dei dischi con esito negativo.

Alla peggio domattina accendo l'altro pc (ora non posso) e guardo come ho fatto il mio grub e te lo scrivo, mi sembrava comunque di aver fatto una cosa tipo:

ricordati una cosa però , facendo questo tipo di configurazione ogni volta che c'è il rilascio di un nuovo kernel (del secondo ubuntu ovviamente) devi andare ad aggiornare questa parte del grub modificando il numero da 19 al successivo.

é stata dura, ora un bel risolto sul titolo ci stà proprio.
