Ho aggiunto la voce xp al grub ma non riesco ad avviare windows clicandoci su..

ciao ragazzi, evitando di aprire un altro post io ho un problema simile..
premessa: ho due hdd, uno serial ata uno pata.
nel serial ata (320gb) ho windows xp con due partizioni, in una delle quali e' installato il s.o.
nel pata (160gb) e' presente solo linux con 3 partizioni, root, home e swap.
avevo correttamente installati sia windows xp sia linux ubuntu. funzionava tutto incluso il boot loader con scelta di entrambi all'accensione del pc: il problema e' nato quando ho deciso di reinstallare ubuntu ripartizionando meglio il disco pata (non avendo messo 3 partizioni)..
una volta reinstallato linux all'avvio del pc mi dava (con scelta limitata di tempo dopo la pressione di Esc, suppongo imposto da Grub) la sola scelta possibile di avvio per ubuntu. di windows nessuna traccia. ho seguito delle guide per riuscire a ripristinare il tutto ma proprio non sono riuscito a riesumare windows.. ubuntu funziona correttamente.
la cosa strana e' che non riesco ad avviare neanche la console di ripristino dal cd di win xp in quanto non rileva proprio xp nell'hdd sata seppur riconoscendolo..
chi mi da una mano? grazie

Ci sono ancora nel file /boot/grub/menu.lst una serie di righe come quelle postate da ueghio relative ad xp?

Come gli altri devi fornire i seguenti dati:

scusate se mi intrometto prima di tutto non sono un'esperto come coloro che hanno risposto, ma io tempo fa avevo lo stesso oltre a fare il ripristino del grub, sono entrato nel bios ed ho fatto partire il pc del hd dove avevo installato ubuntu a me stà funzionando sia ubuntu che xp pravare non costa nulla (senza pretese) sicuro che stò dicendo una cav............... ciaao

Quando ci sono più dischi questo è il primo tentativo da fare, ma solo se non appare il menù del grub.

hai win in una partizione logica (sda5) quindi non può funzionare. Probabilmente c'è stato une errore di partizionamento., devi reinstallare nuovamente win e poi Ubuntu. Quando installi win assegnagli subito la sua partizione, non gli far prendere tutto il disco.

Purtroppo no. La partizione di xp è una logica contenuta all'interno di una estesa, quindi è impossibile trasformarla in una primaria.

di questi casi ne sono accaduti parecchi e non si è ancora scoperta la causa perché l'utente in genere è novizio e non ricorda i passaggi effettuati. Probabilmente si tratta di un errore della tavola delle partizioni facilmente eliminabile da chi se ne intende, io non sono tra questi.

Forse potresti creare un' immagine della partizione di XP e ripristinarla su una primaria, ma non sò se funzionerà,
probabilmente si può fare solo con un sistema funzionante.
