installazione software

scusate ma non ho mai capito come installare da tar.bz2 ho letto di tutto ma non riesco
ora ho letto il file install e mi trovo:

Kdenlive Installation Instrucions

To compile and install, go in the source directory and type:
mkdir build;cd build
cmake ..
(If you want to install in a different path, use instead:
cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/install/path)
make
To install, become root:
sudo make install
(enter root password at prompt)
Once installed, you can start Kdenlive by typing "kdenlive".
Note that you should also install MLT to do anything useful with Kdenlive. See
the README file for details.

installare da tar non è un'operazione semplicissima , ci sono un sacco di cose a cui si deve stari attenti prima di lanciare il comando
la compilazione dei programmi richiede una certa esperienza che maturerai dopo averci sbattuto il naso almeno 10.000 volte (almeno cosi è stato per me).
ti consiglio quindi (per il momento) di utlizzare synaptic, almeno fino a che non avrai acquisito una certa domestichezza almeno con i comandi basilari
synaptic si trova in sistema>amministrazione>gestore dei pacchetti Synaptic
cerchi il pacchetto kdenlive lo marchi per l'installazione e poi clicchi su applica.
se proprio vuoi installare da tar.
comincia leggendo qui

Devi smettere di pensare da windowsiano e di cercare i programmi su internet, con Linux si installa dai repository tramite Synaptic ed è facilissimo.

questo l'ho capito e ne sono contentissimo.......... ma in Synaptic non sempre si trova l'ultimo aggiornamento !!!
ecco perchè mi sto sbattendo per installare da terminale....
visto che ci siamo ora vi spiego una cosa, fino a questo momento (arrivando da windows non conoscendo ubuntu) ho trovato varie stringhe
in giro per internet le quali quando voglio installare in pacchetto cioè compilarlo, faccio dei copia incolla e spesso mi escono errori
oppure da terminale mi escono pagine di roba cui non ci capisco niente... cosa rischio? mettere ubuntu a repentaglio?
incasinare il sistema operativo? permettere ad altri di farli entrare e vedere cosa ce nel mio pc? scusate l'ultima domanda ma volevo
tranquillizarmi.

beh sicuramente fare dei copia incolla senza sapere quello che stai facendo ha dei lati negativi.
- rischio per i tuoi dati e per la sicurezza
(non si sa mai che diano comandi nocivi, fidarsi è bene...)
la compilazione di un programma, come gia detto, richiede sicuramente una buona conoscenza della linea di comando e del sistema operativo.

in synaptic si trovano i repo ufficiali, ma comunque solitamente cercando un po' in giro trovi sia repository non ufficiali che pacchetti precompilati(delle ultime versioni) e pronti per essere installati.

già ma cosi facendo come si impara? se uno si fosilizza solo su Synaptic.....
e poi si possono aggiungere altri link in Synaptic perchè cerchi altrove? se si come si fà?

non tutti i sorgenti si compilano nella maniera canonica infatti in questo caso basta che segui le istruzioni che hai postato:
mkdir build;cd build
cmake ..

quindi da terminale prima vai nella cartella dei sorgenti poi fai quello che ti dicono
volendo (te lo consiglio) non dare sudo make install ma
così crei un .deb facilmente disinstallabile da synaptic, se non lo hai installato:
il massimo dei danni che puoi fare è che non riesci a completare la compilazione (avrai bisogno di leggere un bel paio di volte gli errori per installare tutte le dipendenze necessarie alla compilazione...) finita lì... l'unica cosa è che solitamente su siti tipo getdeb o anche ai siti dei progetti trovi già il programma in .deb invece che da compilare

una cosa non mi è chiara, ogni volta che tento di fare qualcosa da terminale lo faccio "solo" da applicazioni accessori e terminale,
come faccio a farlo da altri punti tipo in altre cartelle? cartella dei sorgenti???

il terminale si apre nella tua cartella home, quindi se la cartella dei sorgenti è lì dentro ti sposti con
altrimenti puoi indicare un percorso intero così:

dal post che ti ho mandato ti sembra installato?
qui ci sono 3 comandi make cmake e
sudo make install e non succede nulla mi da stop
a me non risulta installato
