Dopo aggiornamento Ubuntu non parte

Dopo aver fatto l'aggiornamento Ubuntu non mi parte più, questo è quello che mi viene fuori :

Arrivati a questo punto però la tastiera non risponde ai comandi.

Si può provare a fare qualcosa ? In questo momento ho fatto partire Ubuntu da cd.

puoi fare una prova nel frattempo: al boot selezioni la prima voce, premi "e", vai alla riga "kernel-2.6....quiet splash", premi "e", vai in fondo e scrivi rootdelay=8, enter, "b" per boot.

stesso discorso per me, solo che la mia tastiera (è una PS/2, forse è quello) risponde al prompt di busybox
questo è successo dopo l'aggiornamento da intrepid a jaunty (fatto tramite interfaccia grafica)
ora sto con il disco di intrepid, ma pare tutto a posto
la MoBo non è una Intel GMA (il procio è un amd64 dual core)

che posso fare a parte provare a reinstallare intrepid o jaunty?
(a proposito, reinstallando si perdono i dati? non ho fatto - purtroppo - più partizioni)

Ho provato ad aggiungere "rootdelay=8," ma non è cambiato nulla.

Se devo reinstallare tutto mi conviene installare ubuntu 8.10 o farmi un nuovo cd con la versione 9.04 ?

Per qualche oscuro motivo e' cambiato l'UUID della partizione. Sempre da live cd modifica /boot/grub/menu.lst ed al posto dell'UUID inserisci il device /dev/sda1. Al successivo riavvio verra' creato in automatico l'UUID corretto.

Quindi diventa cosi':

Ma e' facile..basta avviare con un liveCD, montare la partizione e modificare quel file.

Humm..se non ci fossero, nella ramdisk, i driver per il tuo disco l'errore sarebbe un altro..e non verrebbe montato restituendoti un kernel panic.

Dipende. Se hai installato ubuntu in un unica partizione li perdi si i dati. Se hai installato la /home e la / separati allora non li perdi perche' basta reinstallare il sistema nella /.

era per dire che se fosse bastato impostare la root a /dev/sda1 l'avrei già risolto sto problema
/dev/sda1 proprio non esiste nel /dev/ del ramdisk, non so perchè  >:(
vi prego trovate una soluzione che non implichi ricopiare TUTTO e reinstallare da capo, che sto sistema l'ho installato per mia zia 4 giorni fa (passando da windows xp a intrepid) e ora DAVVERO non mi va di rifare tutta la stessa pippa per reinstallare jaunty 

edit: anche perchè l'UUID del disco è rimasto quello, e corrisponde in menu.lst

Nel mio caso che ubuntu è installato in /dev/sda7 devo mettere questo o lascio sempre /dev/sda1

devilinux si è confuso con l'UUID di /dev/sda1, dove c'è installato windows
l'uuid in menu.lst corrisponde con quello del disco, sei incappato nel mio stesso identico problema

E allora non e' quello il problema. Avvia col livecd e prova a rigenerare la ramdisk (magari si e' perso qualche modulo) con

devi chrottare /media/disk una volta montato, altrimenti rigeneri la ramdisk del livecd..ed ottieni l'errore di zd2771
