Un mese senza aggiornamenti automatici

Premetto che non sono un esperto di computer.Da quando ho Ubuntu 8.04  ogni due o tre giorni si aggiornava automaticamente (cliccando sulla icona rossa).Adesso sono preoccupato perchè è da un mese circa che non vedo più aggiornamenti. ???

Da terminale ho eseguito:apt-get update

E: Impossibile aprire il file di lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (13 Permesso negato)
E: Impossibile creare un lock sulla directory di list

Cè  qualcuno che mi sa dire qualcosa.

beh, il fatto che non si aggiorin da un mese ci puo' anche stare ..... per quanto riguada il comando quoto quanto detto da Reve_91 .... il comando devi darlo con SUDO davanti.

.....cmq è strano, non mi era mai capitato che passasse + di 1 mese senza nessun Update, credevo di aver qualche probelma io...
