[Install] Ubuntu non parte dopo aggiornamento a 11.04

Come da titolo, mi si blocca al logo iniziale..quello con i pallini e la scritta ubuntu su sfondo fucsia ..
volevo dire pero' che il grub mi è rimasto uguale..cioè c'è scritto ancora Ubuntu 10.04 .. ma non penso sia un problema..perchè con la 10.10 andava senza problemi..
ho provato a fare partire in modalità grafica ridotta e ubuntu va (anche se a livello estetico è rimasto tutto invariato rispetto alla 10.10) .. solo che quando ha fatto l'accesso mi ha detto che la scheda video/driver non è compatibile con natty (sicuramente devo aggiornare i driver) e di far partire tramite "ubuntu classico" scegliendolo dalla finestra di log (o qualcosa simile)...
cosa puo' essere? perchè non parte ubuntu in modalità normale? Grazie mille a tutti
EDIT: leggendo in giro, alcuni hanno risolto reinstallando i driver nvidia..ma non capisco come fare a reinstallarli ...sinceramente ho sempre seguito 2000 guide ma mi ha sempre dato errori...qualcuno mi indica la strada più sicura per reinstallare sti driver nvidia? e magari all'ultima versione?

Prova da console (alt F2) a dare
sudo stop gdm
così potrai modificare il file Xorg o installare i driver nvidia e far ripartire la modalità grafica con:
sudo start gdm

rientra nel login in low graphic e fai partire ubuntu normale non unity,vedi se funge

non funzia..
mi ritorna nella modalità normale..ma se avvio ubuntu come root in riga di comando e provo ad installare gli ultimi driver che ho scaricato (io ho i 185 .. mentre gli ultimi sono i 270 ) mi da diversi errori..

si funge .. sempre in low graphic.. ho provato anche a settare i driver 173 .. ma niente.. è la stessa cosa, anzi con questi neanche si blocca al logo "ubuntu" .. mi va direttamente in riga di comando...

avvia in modalita low graphic
da terminale dai
sudo apt-get --purge remove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
sempre da terminale
sudo apt-get --purge remove nvidia-current
e reinstalli
sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
riavvia

perfetto.. ora è andato reinstallando di driver..
grazie diabolik!!
Pero' .. non vedo nessun effetto grafico diverso.. il desktop è precisamente identico a quello che avevo prima..e non so più come abilitare gli effetti grafici .. O.o
(tipo le finestre che quando le sposti non sono rigide..ma più "flessibili")...
p.s. è un hp dv 6530el

per avviare unity sceglilo dal gdm usando la voce Ubuntu e non Ubuntu versione classica

Cioè ti si avvia la modalità classica con i due pannelli senza nessun avviso che dica che non puoi usare unity?

mi si avvia per come l'avevo modificato io l'anno scorso ..colori, solo barra sotto, lanciatori sul pannello .. ecc ecc..

installa compiz settings manager, avvialo e insersci gli effetti

l'ho trovato ma sta impostato per bene..soltanto che ancora non ci sono effetti... :/
edit: poi ho notato anche che quando le finestre sono ridotte ad icona, se le devo massimizzare ci vogliono 2 secondi almeno..stesso tempo per ridurre ad icona...

Ciao! Ho avuto lo stesso problema nel fisso...ma quando vado rimuovere e reinstallare, mi dice che non trova i pacchetti! Come posso fare?
