Buongiorno,

preciso prima di tutto che uso Ubuntu Mate, ma che nel loro forum inglese non arrivo a registrarmi, quindi se qua non va bene e sapete indirizzarmi nel posto corretto vi ringrazio in anticipo.

fondamentalmente io faccio partire l'avanzamento ed ad un certo punto mi da un errore e mi dice che l'avanzamento non può essere eseguito.
aggiungo errore appena torno a casa.

Sulla 23.10 hai fatto tutti gli aggiornamenti?
Hai per caso aggiunto dei ppa? Andrebbero disattivati prima dell'avanzamento, anche se credo che ora la procedura di avanzamento dovrebbe disattivarli automaticamente.
Non mi risulta che sia necessaria la registrazione per installare e/o aggiornare Ubuntu, o ti riferisci a Ubuntu One?

sudo pluma /etc/apt/sources.list

in quest'ultimo pluma è l'editor di testo per la versione di Ubuntu che uso (Ubuntu Mate)
è da cambiare se necessario con l'editor di testo in uso nella distro installata.
con questo comando si apre un file vuoto dell'editor di testo in cui si deve incollare
quello che segue, tenendo presente che lunar è il codename per la versione per cui sono
state fatte le istruzioni, quindi bisogna usare il codename ricavato con il primo comando
(nel mio caso era mantic)

copiate queste righe nel file di testo si salva e si chiude il programma

infine sul terminale eseguire

sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade

quando il terminale ha finito di elaborare e torna in standby si può finalmente eseguire
l'avanzamento della versione

Più o meno è quello che si fa(ceva?) di solito su Debian.

Piccola nota: non è necessario creare un file source.list vuoto via touch, è sufficiente fare una copia di quello vecchio (mantenendolo di backup, se si vuole) e rieditarlo con il codename della release a cui si vuole passare (anche da terminale con vi o nano, se si è più comodi)
