Kubuntu: che disastro! Chiedo chiarimenti.

Ho appena finito di installare Kubuntu sul mio pc. Bello kde, ma... non riesco a fare un bel niente! Non riesco ad installare programmi, i video su youtube mostrano solo l'audio, non riesco ad installare i driver nvidia...
Giorni fa ho letto che Kubuntu non è più supportata da Ubuntu; che sia questo il motivo?
Come posso risolvere questa bella situazione senza disinstallare kubuntu?

apri il terminale copi ed incolli quella riga poi premi invio.

dovresti essere piu chiaro riguardo all'installazione dei programmi... cosa non ti funziona?

Allora, ho risolto quasi tutto facendo gli aggiornamenti :-[ per youtube penso che il problema sia rekonq; credo che non gestisca bene l'html5.
Installo firefox e vediamo.
Per gli nvidia continuo a prendere questo errore:

Penso che installero qualcos'altro al posto di Kubuntu.
Si blocca di continuo (e devo chiudere il pc manualmente, cosa che non si fa (nono) ). I driver non riesco ad installarli. Peccato.

Se vuoi/devi cambiare distro, prova a installare Mint 12 KDE. E' una distro che deriva da Ubuntu. Se poi, l'interfaccia grafica non ti interessa che sia il più simile a Win, installati Mint 12 Gnome (quella che ho installato io).

Non sono interessato ad un ambiente simile a win, altrimenti sceglievo zorin KDE mi piace perchè è molto personalizzabile, bella da vedere e funziona da dio.
Mint l'avevo già provato nella "ormai lontana" mint 11 xD il mio problema è sempre quello: il mio modem funziona solo con alcune distro e Mint non è tra queste (strano, anche perchè su Ubuntu e Debian funziona).

Ciao, anch'io ho avuto problemi con il mio modem. Mi spiego: una volta installato Mint sul mio notebook, il wifi non funzionava. Ho dovuto collegarlo tramite cavo al modem, scaricare gli aggiornamenti, installare il driver del modem e a quel punto ha funzionato tutto alla perfezione.

Mint l'avevo già provato nella "ormai lontana" mint 11 xD il mio problema è sempre quello: il mio modem funziona solo con alcune distro e Mint non è tra queste (strano, anche perchè su Ubuntu e Debian funziona).

Prova magari Chakra, ad oggi una delle migliori espressioni di KDE.

Appena riavvio il pc e vado su Kubuntu provo a vedere se funziona
Nel frattempo sto scaricando Bridge Linux KDE, un'altra distro basata su Arch...

Ciao, anch'io ho avuto problemi con il mio modem. Mi spiego: una volta installato Mint sul mio notebook, il wifi non funzionava. Ho dovuto collegarlo tramite cavo al modem, scaricare gli aggiornamenti, installare il driver del modem e a quel punto ha funzionato tutto alla perfezione.

In effetti non riuscivo a connettermi con il wifi... se non riesco a risolvere i problemi scritti sopra, vada per mint 12!

EDIT: Continuo a non riuscire ad installare i driver. Passo a Bridge. Se qualcosa va storto passo a Mint 12

Bello bridge linux! Sarebbe un ottimo OS se... si avviasse il programma di installazione (rotfl) vada per Mint 12 KDE. Facciamola finita :P
EDIT: facciamola finita... e invece no! Mint non accede ad internet neanche con l'ethernet. Sto seriamente pensando di reinstallarmi Arch, solo che dopo hai voglia con la configurazione dell'antenna wifi >:(

io avrei installato i driver tramite ppa, e poi arrendersi all primo problemino
con    linux in generale risolve alla grande tutto
