[How-to] Aggiornare kubuntu 12.04 e 12.10 a KDE 4.10

qualche giorno fa, è stata rilasciata la versione 4.10 di kde. ora, scorrendo i messaggi, qui nella sezione kde del forum, non sono pochi quelli che hanno come oggetto l'aggiornamento di kubuntu 12.04 e 12.10 a questa nuova versione di kde. quindi, nella speranza di fornire un aiuto a tutti quegli utenti che volessero cimentarsi in questa "epica impresa", di seguito, vi illustro la corretta procedura, così come riportata sul sito ufficiale di kubuntu.
aprite il terminale e date in sequenza i seguenti comandi.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

non sempre.
per ragioni che possono essere le più varie, e che a me, qualche volta, appaiono misteriose, non sempre tutto fila per il verso giusto, e ci si ritrova con degli errori o aggiornamenti non completi che causano non pochi problemi, soprattutto a quegli utenti che, non avendo ancora acquisito una buona esperienza con questo sistema operativo, o con l'ambiente desktop kde, non sanno come risolvere la situazione e tornare a godersi kubuntu pienamente funzionante.
il più comune degli errori che mi è capitato di veder riportato, è il messaggio nel terminale che dice

si sono verificati errori nell'elaborazione: /var/cache/apt/archives/nome_pacchetto
in questo caso, per risolvere il problema, scriviamo nel terminale

sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /var/cahce/apt/archives/nome_pacchetto
avendo cura di sostituire alla dicitura nome_pacchetto l'esatto nome del pacchetto così come riporta il messaggio di errore. attenzione a scrivere con la massima precisione il nome del pacchetto così come lo riporta l'errore, è fondamentale.
una volta dato questo comando
continuiamo con

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

sudo apt-get -f install
se dovvesse ripetersi ancora l'errore, ripetiamo la stessa identica procedura, e comunque, non riavviamo finchè l'aggiornamento non si è concluso positivamente.
e come sappiamo che si è concluso positivamente? ovviamente, quando il terminale una volta finito di lavorare, non riporta nessun messaggio di errore, e neanche ci deve comparire una stringa che dice, pressapoco:

"alcuni pacchetti lasciati non configurati"
ora, spiegato come portare a termine la procedura di aggiornamento, una cosa ancora voglio aggiungere.
su alcuni blog, mi è capitato di leggere che, qual'ora una volta aggiornato si volesse tornare indietro, sarebbe sufficiente installare ppa-purge e dare il comando

sudo ppa-purge ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
bene, anzi male, sappiate che quest'operazione rischia di essere di gran lunga più problematica di un aggiornamento problematico. pensateci bene quindi prima di aggiornare, e, se magari non siete convinti, ma la curiosità di testare kde 4.10 è per voi un richiamo troppo forte, potete scaricarvi la iso della versione in sviluppo di kubuntu, la 13.04, che ha di default l'ultima versione di kde, e che, a mio parere, offre già un grado di stabilità sufficiente per apprezzare le caratteristiche di kde 4.10, testarla da live e soddisfare la curiosità senza intaccare la vostra installazione.

I problemi, sia nell'andare avanti che nel tornare indietro, sono praticamente sempre dovuti all'aggiunta di ppa che confliggono.
add-apt-repository viene usato con troppa facilità.
Una volta, quando non c'era quel comando (alla faccia di chi dice che ubuntu è una distro chiusa), copiavano il sources.list dello scrittore di turno e c'era qualche problema in meno, prima che con un po' di dimestichezza in più riuscissero comunque a far fuori il sistema.
Ora con add-apt-repository si generano dei sources.list+vari.list in sources.list.d molto originali, nelle macchine di utenti che non hanno la più pallida idea di quello che stanno facendo (ormai pure chi guida si interessa solo ad apparire in cima nei motori di ricerca, senza avere idea di ciò che sta facendo).

Boo ........ strano , con KDE sono perennemente nel Repo Factory (Opensuse ), che corrisponde al vostro Backports , aggiorno praticamente a occhi chiusi ;)

Possessori di portatili con Opensuse, che hanno scoperto (perché gli serviva) che c'è un buchino con dentro il tasto reset, nel restro dei loro HP, ne conosco davvero tanti.

Ho un Desktop e solo quello .

Quello che intendo è che non è colpa di Kde , è strano che dei pacchetti non si installino , vedo sempre più spesso sia in Ubuntu che Mint errori come questo , pacchetti danneggiati o bloccati , errori nei repo ecc .

Ubuntu e di conseguenza Mint, hanno un gran numero di bloggher con l'add-apt-repository facile...
Un sistema con 5-6 repository esterni, spesso pure di più da quello che vedo stando sul forum, non è più Ubuntu.

Non so se Ubuntu ne ha più di Opensuse , comunque basta non dormire quando si è svegli ^_^

Opensuse è più di nicchia, il fenomeno bloggher (ma esiste nel dizionario italiano? mi sa che dovrei scrivere blogger) che fa copia e incolla spacciandosi per esperto unito al fenomeno utente che copia e incolla nel terminale senza sapere cosa sta facendo, è molto limitato, se non addirittura inestente.
Il livello è davvero basso, non è una questione di dormire quando si sta svegli.

6 anni fa c'erano robe del genere su Ubuntu, i ppa che cos'erano?

L'autore stesso commentava le righe, senza spiegare assolutamente nulla, l'articolo era tipo:
Questo è il mio suorces.list, usatelo a vostro rischio e pericolo.
Ti dava un breve suggerimento su come importare tutte le chiavi che mancavano e finiva lì.
Poi dovevi vedertela da solo se ti mancava un repository per un motivo (es: choose your arch) o per l'altro (es: WARNING: He had made some bad packages!!!).
L'autore sapeva cosa stava fecendo, l'utente non poteva fare troppo incosciamente e le cose andavano un pelo meglio, un po' come succede su tutte le distribuzioni che non sono Ubuntu e derivate.
Anche se su IRC ne vedevo arrivare tanti con problemi causati da repository esterni, era gente alla quale potevi parlare.
Qua mi sento rispondere che uso troppi tecnicismi e non mi capiscano, neppure se gliele ripeto 300 volte le cose...
Ho fatto copia è incolla dall'unica discussione aperta sul forum di opensuse, sul problema della G102M e i 6 schermi, almeno 50 volte, come mai dall'altra parte usano la ricerca e risolvono senza aprire nuove discussioni?

Converrai che il problema non è Kubuntu o Mint KDE.

Qui siamo in una sezione tecnica e non al Bar. In questa discussione si deve parlare esclusivamente di problemi legati all'aggiornamento a kde 4.10 e non se è opportuno o meno di usare i ppa e cosa fa Suse.

Magari divido la discussione.
Hai fatto un backup oggi? Ieri?? Quando???

Su 3 macchine purtroppo apt non mi ha installato tutti i pacchetti dell'aggiornamento, con evidenti difetti; il gestore aggiornamenti di kde, infatti, mi segnalava la disponibilità di altri pacchetti da aggiornare.
Personalmente, pur essendo io un utilizzatore di apt/aptitude, almeno per questo aggiornamento suggerisco di utilizzare lo strumento grafico.

non sono d'accordo, molto meglio usare il terminale, visto che lo strumento grafico, almeno quello di default su kubuntu, in caso di errori , purtroppo, non fornisce informazioni esaustive, ne, tanto meno, strumenti per recuperare la situazione. se apt ti da problemi nell'aggiornamento, riportali qui e vediamo di risloverli, questo 3D è stato aperto proprio con questo scopo.

Non ho parlato di errori di apt ma solo di un'installazione parziale dell'intero aggiornamento.

Ottimo KDE 4.10 è veramente fluido e veloce! Lo avevo già installato prima di leggere questa ottima how-to che è scritta correttamente. Bravo gyanny!
Su molte guide anche di altro genere viene erroneamente indicato di usare solo upgrade poi uno incasina tutto perché si aggiornano solo alcuni pacchetti e si rischia il non avvio della macchina.
Bisogna sempre utilizzare dist-upgrade per aggiornamenti simili!

Nel mio netbook con Atom N2600 GMA3600 cedar trail andava in modalità testo ed ho dovuto disinstallare e reinstallare i driver grafici proprietari per avere il sistema perfettamente funzionante!
KDE 4.10 è veramente superiore ad ogni DE finora provato!

Porto la mia esperienza.
Aggiunto il repository e fatto l'aggiornamento, kdm non si avviava più, partiva la tty1.
Per avviare KDM dovevo dare:

Codice: Seleziona tutto

sudo service kdm stop; sudo service kdm start
Il desktop partiva nel runlevel 2, ma mi loggavo su kdm e tutto funzionava.
Per tagliare la testa al toro, ho aperto synaptic e ho selezionato tutti i pacchetti che iniziavano con la k per la reinstallazione.
Sono tornato dopo una mezz'oretta e aveva finito, ora funziona tutto regolarmente.

Durante l'installazione non c'era stato alcun errore o problema.
