tutto fermo... aiuto please!

ciao a tutti...
vi ringrazio fin da subito per la comprensione e l'aiuto....
vi spiego il problema:
praticamente dopo un po' che lascio fermo il portatile con le solite cose che vanno (tipo ktorrent e altro) noto che l'utilizzo della cpu è al 100% e non riesco a far niente e mi tocca spegnere brutalmente la macchina...
qualcuno per caso mi puà aiutare?

non so se può esser utile il dato però non me l'ha sempre fatto...
ha cominciato solo dopo che ho fatto qualche aggiornamento di qualche pacchetto...
grazie mille dell'aiuto e dell'interessamento comunque...

La memoria è ok, hai più di 800M a disposizione quindi... non dovrebbe andarti in swap...
Se dovesse farlo nuovamente, se ho capito bene è sistematico, o provi ad aprire un terminale da X o prova a fare CTRL-ALT-F1 così entri in modalità terminale, fai il login ed al prompt:
Se riesci a postare l'output vediamo se qualche processo fa i capricci

ok... grazie del consiglio...
qualche volta mi fa andare dall'altra parte con CTRL+ALT+F1 e quindi lo spengo da là altre volte no.... comunque adesso appena s'impianta ci provo e poi ti so dire...
volevo farti un'altra domanda...
non potrebbe esser stato l'aggiornamento del pacchetto xserver-xorg-video-ati a causare il problema?
quasi quasi proverei a tornar alla versione del cd....
che ne dici?
visto che ci sono ti posso chiedere un'altra cosa?
all'avvio mi kubuntu mi dà queste due righe.... kubuntu si avvia tranquillamente comunque...

Sui driver non so dirti, prova a controllare se altri nel forum hanno riscontrato gli stessi problemi... sull'errore... te lo da all'avvio dopo aver selezionato grub e poi scompare? Lo da anche a me e sinceramente non ho indagato oltre visto che va tutto bene (almeno penso
)

La memoria è ok... il problema sembra Xorg... hai fatto qualche cosa in particolare? Puoi allegare al post /etc/X11/xorg.conf?

Ma usi una risoluzioe 640x480? Prova invece di ati ad usare radeon come driver per la scheda video

Al boot di GRUB seleziona la modalità recovery e al prompt
una volta terminato
e così dovresti sistemare il problema di X...
Per il problema del blocco mi dispiace ma non riesco a capire cosa potrebbe essere... :-[

ciao paper0k...
avevo risolto ieri sera andando con ctrl+alt+f1 su tty1 e modificando con nano il file xorg.conf....
adesso ho riportato l'impostazione precedente....
se ti può esser utile devi sapere che ho constatato che se lascio una finestra aperta sul desktop il p non si blocca....
che facciamo ora?

comunque non uso una risoluzione 640x480....

mi era venuto in mente che potrei reinstallare il xorg-driver-ati che è sul cd di kubuntu.... non mi dava sti problemi prima di aggiornarlo... ovviamente se fosse quello il problema....
che dite?.... oppure usare i driver proprietari tipo fglrx??
