[Desktop] L'annoso problema dello spegnimento

Salve a tutti,
dopo aver reinstallato Kubuntu, si è presentato anche a me il problema del mancato spegnimento del pc.
Premetto che prima della reinstallazione tutto funzionava alla perfezione (ho reinstallato partendo dallo stesso CD live).
L'unico modo per spegnerlo è terminare la sessione e fare il shutdown dal pannello di autenticazione.
Il mio sospetto è che la causa si debba ricercare in qualche aggiornamento. Posto il mio sources.list:

Ho provato già con i vari comandi da inserire in menu.lst (es. apm power_off=1), ma niente da fare.
Qualche consiglio?

Forse ho capito dove sta l'arcano... se faccio lo startup con il kernel 2.6.17-10 tutto ok (il pc si spegne senza problemi), mentre se avvio con il kernel 2.6.17-11 il problema del mancato spegnimento si ripropone.
E' forse un bug del nuovo kernel?

a me a volte si spegne e a volte no... lo fa quasi in alternato...
come kernel uso il 2.6.17-10... per quello successivo nin zo...

Forse ho capito dove sta l'arcano... se faccio lo startup con il kernel 2.6.17-10 tutto ok (il pc si spegne senza problemi), mentre se avvio con il kernel 2.6.17-11 il problema del mancato spegnimento si ripropone.
E' forse un bug del nuovo kernel?

Buongiorno a tutti,
continuo ad aggiornarvi sulle mie prove...
1) leggendo e googlando qua e là ho capito che il problema del mancato spegnimento dipende da un'infinità di cause;
2) se installo i driver fglrx (ho una ATI 9550) invece degli open, tutto funziona regolarmente (spegnimento, riavvio, ecc...). Quindi suppongo che la causa sia da ricercare nella gestione del server grafico.
Per il momento è tutto. Ma non mi arrendo!

Ho trovato la soluzione (ovviamente non è farina del mio sacco!)... googlando mi sono imbattuto in questo metodo:
Aprite con il vostro editor il file:

/etc/default/acpi-support

successivamente individuate la stringa seguente e modificate l'istruzione POST_VIDEO da "true" a "false" (senza le virgolette), come riportato qui sotto:

# Should we attempt to warm-boot the video hardware on resume?
POST_VIDEO=false

L'ho acceso e spento una decina di volte (anche con alcuni riavvii del pc) e ha sempre funzionato!
Al momento non ho riscontrato effetti collaterali. Speriamo bene!

io invece mi sono accorto che basta spegnere il router e il pc si spegne correttamente...
