Ennesima prova di installazione modem usb

Non so prorpio più che fare... questa è l'ultima guida che sto seguento cioè quella di questo signore http://steve-parker.org/speedtouchconf/
Mi dava sempre errore del tipo "modem not found" allora ho guardato nelle faq, sempre dello stesso sito e ho letto questa risposta
"I get an error "240 - Modem not found" from modem_run
This generally means that you have a Silver modem; this modem requires the rev4fw.zip or similar zip file, not the alcaudsl.sys, mgmt.o files. These files should not be in the same directory as the script, as they will be used in preference to rev4fw.zip if found. There is no general mapping of colour to firmware, so try a few - the one which works with your Windows installation is the most likely to work. "
Ma che significa ??? L'ultima frase non l'ho proprio capita... ho provato a mettere il file rev4fw.zip nella cartella speedtouch-....... , utilizzandolo cioè come microcode, ma mi dà sempre lo stesso errore..
Qualcuno mi può dire chiaramente quali sono i pacchetti che devono essere installati prima di fare tutta questa procedura... (tipo libc6 o build-essential o pppd etc...) GRazie per la pazienza..
