kubuntu, non rileva più i dispositivi wifi

dopo aver messo le mani su alcuni file delle impostazioni wifi, il mio pc non rileva più alcun dispositivo wifi. Cliccando sul simbolo della rete in basso a destra dice, sotto la voce interfaccia wlan, non gestito.
Ho notato anche che digitando da terminale "iwlist scan" , stampa

lo        Interface doesn't support scanning.

wlan0     Failed to read scan data : Network is down

come risolvo questo problema?
PS: Ho un sistema operativo kubuntu 12.10

ifconfig wlan0 up

Cambia wlan0 con la tua.

Dopo aver digitato questo comando il computer non si connette neanche tramite Ethernet e il wifi da ancora lo stesso problema solo che il terminale, al comando iwlist scan dice wlan0 No scan results. Ora?

ho digitato ifconfig wlan0 down e ora l'ethernet va di nuovo, ma il wifi no. Non so più cosa fare...
