Ubuntu 12.04 e rete wi-fi

Scusate, spero sia la sezione adatta; non riesco a trovare una discussione simile purtroppo, se già esiste potreste linkarmelo?

Il mio problema è il seguente: uso un portatile con Ubuntu 12.04 e Win7. Windows trova sempre la rete wi-fi e vi si collega, Ubuntu invece tenta varie volte di collegarsi ma non riesce. Questo non avviene sempre, in alcuni luoghi con rete wi-fi riesco a collegarmi anche da Ubuntu senza problemi. Con il cavo invece non ho nessun tipo di problema.

Qualcuno sa aiutarmi?

Se ho capito bene il tuo problema consiste nel fatto che talvolta ubuntu non si collega ad alcune reti wifi? Ma le vede e carica a vuoto o non riesce a vederle completamente?

Le vede come le vede windows, anche 4-5 tacche; compaiono i due pallini verdi, il cerchio blu inizia a girare e continua e continua e continua...e smette. E poi di nuovo. All'infinito. Me lo fa sempre con le stesse reti però, quella di casa e alcune pubbliche, mentre con altre (sempre pubbliche) va tranquillamente.

non è che per caso la prima volta hai impostato una password d'accesso sbagliata, o magari non l'hai mai inseirta?

L'anno scorso mi funzionava e mi collegavo. Sono tornata da un mese e non ho reinserito la password perché non me l'ha chiesta (comunque so che non è stata cambiata), ma mi succede anche con reti pubbliche per cui non serve la password. Fino a un mese fa ero all'estero e per collegarmi alla rete della biblioteca di lì ho dovuto fare un qualcosa con il VPN (non ho idea di cosa sia, sono informaticamente ignorante). Per i primi tre mesi ha funzionato, poi da un giorno all'altro ha smesso, senza che cambiassi nulla o accadesse nulla di visibile ai miei occhi. Accadeva la stessa cosa che accade ora, vedeva la rete ma la rotellina girava a vuoto. Non so se abbia a che fare con l'attuale problema.

questa sezione serve a chi non sa muoversi nel forum, per domande davvero basilari, per chi vuole un consiglio generico, se si ha una domanda mirata USATE la sezione del forum più appropriata.

Grazie per averlo spostato, ma non ero sicura andasse in questa sezione, pensavo fosse un problema comune per una totale ignorante in materia di pc...
Al comando cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6 mi esce solo uno zero. 0. Così. Ora inserisco anche il resto (scusate, ci metto un po' perché devo ogni volta chiudere windows e aprire ubuntu).

Se prima di fare qualche tipo di aggiornamento funzionava, forse il tutto può essere dovuto all'aggiornamento del kernel. Prova ad accedere tramite un'altra versione prececente del kernel e vedi se il problema si risolve

nel moemnto in cui accedi al GRUB metti previous kernel (o linux non ricordo) version e premi invio su uno dei presenti

Provo allora con il vecchio kernel...e non ho idea di che cosa significhi "qualcuna delle reti con le quali hai problemi sono sui canali 11/12/13?" xD

fammi sapere cosa succede con vecchio kernel e poi cerchiamo eventualmente di indagare più a fondo sul problema
