samsung nc10 - vari "problemi con xubuntu"

ciao a tutti, ho questo piccolo gingillo da tempo ormai, aveva su winZozz (bad) e ora si ritrova con la fantastica distro xubuntu (yes)

ma ho un paio di quesiti da farvi, spero che possiate aiutarmi, anche perchè ho provato il tasto cerca ma non mi ha dato i risultati sperati.

in pratica uso il modem interno (3g embedded o una roba simile) e lancia le connessioni regolarmente...
però c'è un problemino, ogni volta che lancio la connessione e apro firefox, mi dà la classica pagina d'errore come se il pc non si fosse mai connesso!!! "server non trovato"

Per risolvere, devo disconnettere e rilanciare la conn. per 3 o 4 volte prima che si "svegli" e mi faccia navigare regolarmente... diciamo che ormai ci ho fatto il callo, però se si potesse risolvere risparmierei un sacco di ore internet  :'( (purtroppo i piani dei gestori prevedono l'anticipo dei 15 minuti  (mad) )
poi altra cosina....
come faccio a regolare la luminosità del display ed attivare i tasti "secondari"? (quali: vis. batteria, att/disatt. wlan, e reg lumi display) ??

aiuto   :(

ditemi che non devo rimettere windows per risolvere.... altrimenti lo lancio dalla finestra sto netbook  (rotfl)

per la connessione vedi se ti carica i DNS; ti basta dare, in un terminale, il comando

cat /etc/resolv.conf
Se il problema è quello ti basta inserirli staticamente nelle opzioni della connessione che trovi nel network-manager.

Per i tasti funzione, prova a schiacciarne un po, poi, sempre in un terminale, dai il comando dmesg, copi & incoli qua tutto cosa esce. Attento che l'output è lunghissimo, quindi inseriscilo tra i tag code (cancelletto in alto vicino alla macchina da scrivere).

ciao, grazie per la risposta, si mi vanno i dns, xò ho "risolto" lanciando una connessione, e aspettando minimo 30 secondi prima di aprire firefox... (vai a capire xkè...  ??? )

il problema della connessione rimane anche con Ubuntu cavolo.. ma devo tornare a windows per farlo funzionare come si deve e al primo colpo???

Hai controllato che ci siano i DNS nel file /etc/resolv.conf quando la connessione non funziona?
