Xubuntu 11.10 non legge i DVD video

Se inserisco un DVD video nel lettore DVE e poi tento di vederlo con "Parole", compare questo messaggio di errore:
Could not read DVD. This may be because the DVD is encrypted and a DVD decryption library is not installed

Ho provato a risolvere installando VLC e Xine, ma non ho ottenuto nessun risultato: i DVD video non si vedono.
Installare il pacchetto xubuntu-restricted-extras non ha migliorato la situazione.
Suggerimenti?

come puoi vedere dalla foto se installi xubuntu-restricted-extras lo spiega...

prova ad installare installare il pacchetto libdvdcss2

EDIT: sto vedendo che su ubuntu 11.10 mi parte un Film anche senza quel file...

Eppure VLC non riesce a leggere il DVD, e PAROLE inizialmente lo legge, ma dopo un po' scompare il video, e per farlo tornare devo muovere il player... in ogni caso, a schermo intero non si vede nulla.

ma hai installato da zero o hai fatto l'avanzamento di versione ad xubuntu 11.10 ?

comunque a me VLC 1.1.12 si lancia e si chiude subito...

mentre con Totem funziona, fai una prova, altrimenti aspetta il 26 aprile...  ;)

mi sembra a posto, ora cerca questi in gestore pacchetti e prova ad installarli
libdvdcss2,w32codecs(o w64codecs se hai 64bit),non free codecs

I codec li avevo già installati prima.
