Via Driver Video.
Ciao!
Ho installato Ubuntu 7.04.
Volevo attivare gli Effetti Desktop, avendoli provati dal mio ragazzo e mi sono resa conto che sono utili oltre che belli.
Eppoi volevo installare anche beryl (o compiz? oppure compiz fusion?)
Il mio ragazzo ha "smanettato" un po' per trovare i driver grafici per la mia scheda video integrata, ma non c'e' riuscito.
La mia scheda madre e' una K8M890CE (almeno da quello che dice Linux.)
Guardando sul sito viaarena.com , come suggerito da molti forum ci siamo accorti che e' una VIA chrome 9 Integrata (IGC).
Nel sito ci fa scaricare un file .gz e, scompattandolo c'e' solo un file pdf che ci indica le varie procedure per installare i driver.
Ma e' quello il problema !
Nel PDF ci viene indicato il file Linux-FBDev-kernel-bin_2.6.00.02a.tgz che non riusciamo a trovare !

questi driver dovrebbero far parte de mesa, e sono gia' nel kernel.Linux-FBDev-kernel-bin_2.6.00.02a.tgz
Non credo che il modulo "via" possa fornire un accelerazione hardware 3D, o tale da poter utilizzare gli effetti desktop..
Dovresti installare soltanto i meta-driver:

heem..chi lo dice? :-[ ..mi puoi postare questo errore?..l'esempio era solo per "via" non per tutto il resto..non vorrei che avessi copiato proprio tuttoAbbiamo copiato il tuo esempio , ma all' avvio ci dice che non riesce a trovare i device.

Aggiornamento:
Restando con i driver di default ("vesa") e abilitando gli Effetti Desktop, lo schermo diventa bianco,il cursore del mouse cambia a seconda di dove si trova,ma non si riesce a vedere niente (bianco).

Provato a riconfigurare xorg.conf.
Impostata via come scheda video.

Se Puoi metti una scheda grafica (non e' che costino molto) e da quello che ho visto sul sito della ASUS ti conviene prenderla PCI . Un altro consiglio e' prenderla nvidia o ATI .
