Per favore..le ho provate tutte!
Attivata l'accellerazione 3d ati e abilitato il composite, quando vado ad abilitare gli effetti desktop 3d appare una finestra con su scritto :
Desktop effects could not be enabled.
Che devo fare?

scusa ma hai installato i driver 8.37
questi driver non supportano il composite e quindi niente aiglx, hai per caso utilizzato il gestore driver con restrizioni?
se vuoi usare i driver proprietari devi installare gli ultimi 8.42.3 scaricabili dal sito ati e sul forum ci sono tutte le guide che ti servono o, se no, se avessi problemi come il sottoscritto puoi provare con i driver open

Ho installato i driver Ati 8.42.3.
finalmente dopo molte prove ho attivato gli effetti,
per farlo ho dovuto disattivare l'accellerazione grafica;
di conseguenza è graficamente meno scorrevole e, avviando firefox,
per una frazione di secondi mi appare una schermata con zebrature orizzontali un po' inquietante...
poi tutto procede normalmente.
sapresti dirmi come mai,
e come attivare l'accellerazione mantenendo gli effetti attivi?

hai disattivato l'accellerazione grafica?ma usi aiglx o una sessione Xgl?
Da quanto ne so aiglx non può funzionare senza accellerazione attiva ::)

aspetta che stai facendo un pò di confusione...quando il gestore ati ti segnala "in uso" vuol dire che stai usando i driver proprietari (fglrx) mentre quando ti segnala non in uso vuol dire che stai usando i driver open.
Però l 'accelerazione la puoi ottenere con entrambi i driver come hai scritto prima...

il problema comunque rimane.

non riesci ad attivare gli effetti perchè non vengono caricati i nuovi 8.42.3 ma i vecchi disponibili da repository 8.37.6 che, non avendo il supporto aiglx non permettono l'attivazione degli effetti.
Prima di installare i nuovi driver avevi fatto qulache altra installazione dal manager dei driver con restrizione o dai repository?

io non riuscivo a sbarazzarmi di quei maledetti driver quindi alla fine ho divuto piallare tutto....spero a te vada meglio
Per prima cosa disattiva i driver dal gestore driver con restrizioni
Controlla di avere disinstallato i vecchi driver da synaptic
i pacchetti da disinstallare sono:
xorg-driver-fglrx
xorg-driver-fglrx-dev
fglrx-control
fglrx-kernel-source
adesso riconfigura lo xorg.conf con i driver open
se non l'hai mai fatto segui questa guida

a questo punto riavvia e dovresti esserti sbarazzata dei vecchi driver (così si spera)

Per prima cosa disattiva i driver dal gestore driver con restrizioni
Controlla di avere disinstallato i vecchi driver da synaptic
i pacchetti da disinstallare sono:
xorg-driver-fglrx
xorg-driver-fglrx-dev
fglrx-control
fglrx-kernel-source
adesso riconfigura lo xorg.conf con i driver open
Codice: Seleziona tutto
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorghttp://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Hardware/Video/ConfigurareXorg?highlight=(xorg)
a questo punto riavvia e dovresti esserti sbarazzata dei vecchi driver (così si spera)

con il primo metodo 1 reinstalli i pacchetti che hai appena disinstallato! devi seguire il secondo metodo

tramite synaptic ho già controllato: ho rimosso tutti i pacchetti.
torno alla guida, sperando di capirci qualcosa.
