[RISOLTO] Con effetti 3D il pc si blocca terminando X

Buon giorno a questa fantastica comunità !!  (good)

Sentite, ho 1 problema legato strettamente agli effetti grafici: se li abilito, quando termino la sessione, arresto/riavvio il sistema, cambio utente, insomma, tutte le volte che X si deve riavviare, il notebook si blocca, e sono costretto a forzare lo spegnimento (tenendo premuto il tasto di accensione).

Ho provato a cercare nel forum, ma senza risultati, quindi se qualcuno trovasse post riferiti al problema, sarei molto grato anche solo del link!!

Lo fa sempre, senza esclusioni, anche se gli effetti grafici con la mia intel 855GM non hanno mai dato problemi; il tutto succede da quando ho installato gusty!

Fatemi sapere se avete bisogno di altre informazioni!

PS: certo, senza effetti 3D si sopravvive, ma l'assenza di AWN e la trasparenza del terminale mi mancano da impazzire!!  :-[  :'(

Senza messaggi d'errore non è facile risalire al tuo problema ed aiutarti. Apri il log di sistema: gnome-system-log e controlla un pò se ci sono messaggi d'errore (in particolare su xorg.log).

Ed è proprio qui che viene il bello.. o meglio, la depressione ..  :'(

Messaggi di errore non ce ne sono!!!
Nel momento stesso in cui io clicco su arresta, riavvia o termina sessione, nell'esatto momento in cui dovrebbe terminare X (visto tra l'altro che ho tolto lo splash del boot, che già non si vedeva) il portatile si blocca.
Non dà più cenni di vita di alcun genere.
Non accetta imput da tastiera, non si spengono le luci, non lavora l'hd, tutto fermo..
L'unica cosa che succede è che mi si spegne completamente lo schermo..

Sto cominciando (a malincuore) a vedere la mia vita in 2D  :'(

A parte gli scherzi (per sfogarmi degli effetti ho sempre il fisso) se posso postarvi qualcosa di utile ditelo pure!!

Ma almeno fai finta di leggere quello che ho scritto.

Senti, Xorg non crea log, come se non desse errori (crea solo Xorg.0.log che contiene SOLO gli orari dell'accensione, nulla riferito allo spegnimento) e così tutti gli altri log!!
Ho provato a controllare esattamente a che orario spegnavo il pc, e al riavvio di log non cen'erano!!!

Ho letto quello che hai scritto, e ho fatto quello che hai consigliato, ma è inutile che posti 8000 righe per nulla, visto che sono tutte riferite a orari diversi da quello di spegnimento!!!!!

Il problema è che alcuni log sono sovrascritti con il reboot.

Allora prova così:

shutdown -h now > shutdown.log

E altra cosa buona sarebbe dare un'occhiata a qualcosa di strano nel kernel ring buffer con:

dmesg

Allora può essere l'ACPI che crea problemi. Probabilmente è così

ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) è uno standard industriale aperto che definisce l'interfaccia tra S.O. e BIOS per l'amministrazione e la configurazione delle risorse di un PC. ACPI prevede che le informazioni a basso livello sul sistema (batteria, ventole, luminosità LCD, pulsanti Fn, ecc.) siano contenute nella DSTD (Differentiated System Description Table).

Il problema principale del supporto ad ACPI in linux risiede nella nella presenza di errori (ma anche di controlli espliciti su alcune caratteristiche peculiari del S.O. soprastante) nella tabella DSDT: purtroppo, molti fornitori di hardware non sono in grado, o non vogliono fornire tabelle DSDT completamente funzionali secondo gli standard ACPI.

Per questo motivo, per utilizzare appieno le possibilità offerte da alcuni PC, soprattutto laptop, è necessario correggere la DSDT e istruire il kernel affinché nel processo di boot carichi la tabella fornita da noi invece di quella fornita dal BIOS.
