Installato con successo pero e vado nella configurazione e negli effetti Cube Reflection and Deformation: non c'è?

Beh, per il pacchetto che mancava, bastava fare
sudo apt-get install libx11-xcb-dev
e poi ricominciare.

Per il resto, non so. Comunque quando si compila, spesso si devono installare delle librerie di sviluppo che non si hanno.
Non e' un processo veloce, a volte, perche' bisogna capire quale pacchetto bisogna installare.
Ma con l'aiuto di packages.ubuntu.com, si puo' risalire facilemnte al pacchetto che manca.

cmq se sei risciuto ad installare la compiz icon direi di riprovare ad installare il pacchetto con il cubo a sfera o a cilindro e vedi che,almeno così è successo a me, che anche dopo l'errore lo trovi lo stesso negli effeti del cubo

ciao!prova a controllare in synaptic, che il pacchetto "compiz-dev" (o qualcosa del genere) sia installato.
da poco ho scritto anche un'altra guida su fusionbulid se ti interessa puoi provare con quella, eventualmente prima disinstalla tutto.

per quanto riguarda il problema di prima si tratta di freewins...

e nel video ci sono effetti nuovi che appunto dovresti riuscire ad avere con questa installazione e vecchi che già hai

Che casino che stai facendo ybor4 ...
1) Per avere gli effetti del titolo bisogna compilare e installare l'ultima versione di Compiz Fusion via git.
Per farlo, bisogna scaricare il tar.gz come indicato nella guida http://freetimesblog.wordpress.com/2008 ... n-dal-git/ e successivamente scompattarlo e quindi far partire compiz-git install con modalita' di superutente (sudo ./compiz-git install).
Facendo questo passaggio ti eri bloccato perche' ti mancavano le librerie x11-xcb.
Le hai installate. Bene. Ora rilancia sudo ./compiz-git install per fare in modo di riprendere da dove avevi interrotto.
Se hai abbandonato questo modo di installare, vorrei capire COSA hai installato ...
2) L'effetto freewins e' un PLUGIN di Compiz, per cui PRIMA si installa Compiz e poi si puo' compilare freewins. Senza Compiz, freewins (ed eventuali altri plugins) non si potranno installare.

Cerca di fare le cose senza fretta e cercando di capire quello che fai.
Altrimenti, fai solo confusione e alla fine avrai delle installazioni fatte male che non funzioneranno.

Consiglio : riparti da "sudo ./compiz-git install" da dentro la cartella di compiz-git che avevi scompattato.
Se ti fermi di nuovo, cerca di capire quale eventuale pacchetto ti manca.
Se arrivi alla fine, dovresti avere i nuovi effetti del titolo, ma non avrai comunque freewins che pero' a quel punto potrai compilare e installare.
