"Impossibile abilitare gli effetti desktop"

Salve a tutti, il mio problema è il seguente. Oggi, per curiosità, ho deciso di disattivare un attimo gli effetti visivi. Quando sono tornato per rimetterli (sistema - preferenze - aspetto - effetti visivi) cliccando su normali mi appare l'avviso citato nel titolo.
Ora, ho cercato risposta nel forum ma non ho trovato nulla tranne qualche consiglio che potrebbe aiutarvi ad aiutarmi  ;D

Quando provo a far partire l'installazione mi esce scritto in una finestrella blu nel terminale:

Si, ho dato il comando lì scritto dopo aver scaricato il file.
Ho già provato anche con envyng (scaricato il pacchetto l'ho fatto partire da terminale, ho installato e riavviato) ma nulla.
La cosa strana che prima che togliessi gli effetti funzionava tutto a meraviglia!

è lo stesso bug segnalato nel primo sito, ovvero che non parte rimettendo compiz...dall'errore mi pare che devi far partire lìinstaller senza interfaccia grafica, ovvero vai di sessione di ripristino dove è tutto a riga di comando
