pc lentissimo dopo aver attivato effetti 3d

ciao a tutti
non riesco a risolvere questo problema, se attivo gli effetti di compiz il pc si blocca....va lentisssimo e non si riesce a fare nulla........
il rendering è positivo , ho anche usato compiz chek che mi da tutto ok......ho una nvidea geforce 1600gt 128 mb con driver 173.14.12 , ho provato a smanettare un pò con nvidia setting ma non ci capisco un granchè..................
