per me il migliore rimane Rsync
utilizzabile sia da riga di comando, ed eventualmente script, sia con un interfaccia grafica, pure leggera, che non guasta:

intanto grazie,
l' interfaccia grafica non guasta, si trova nei repository?
quello che dovrebbe fare è abbastanza semplice, cartella su pc, cartella su hd esterno, avere la possibilità nel caso alcuni file vengano modificati/aggiornati, di copiarli aggiornati/nuovi su hd esterno
in caso di cancellazione però è necessaria una copia nuova intera, vero?

ci sono tante opzioni.
fra le quali, se cambi un file sorgente, lui ti va a sostituirlo nella destinazione.
se cancelli un file sorgente, lo cancella anche in destinazione.
