Un BIOS UEFI è necessario per avviare un sistema tramite UEFI. Però consente anche l'avvio tramite "legacy" (modalità di compatibilità)

ho dato il comando su un pc con bios legacy e su un pc con bios UEFI, in entrambi i casi la risposta è questa

però sul pc col bios UEFI il sistema operativo è installato in modalità MBR, dipende da questo?

No, non dipende dalla modalità. Normalmente dovresti ricevere un output come

quindi hai un'UEFI e anche il CSM (BIOS Legacy). La scheda madre può avviare sia i sistemi installati in modalità UEFI, sia i sistemi installati in modalità BIOS.

Se hai un'UEFI ma vedi solo la prima riga, immagino che le info nel sysfs non sono complete.
