sarebbe interessante sapere quantomeno che scheda madre hai
le nuove mobo hanno ormai integrato un tool per aggiornare il bios anche senza nessun sistema operativo, ad esempio nelle mobo asus si chiama EZ flash

Ciao, una scheda madre vecchissima M2N-E SLI ASUS, ho già provato ad usare il Tool ma non funziona quindi l'unico modo, secondo me, è tramite file.

Il file lo devi mettere su un supporto FAT32 (una penna usb va benissimo), non usare NTFS o ext (che tra l'altro il tool manco legge), avvia il BIOS e cerca EZFLASH nelle varie opzioni. Mi raccomando di NON interrompere in nessun modo l'aggiornamento

Dal sito web è possibile scaricare il manuale che dice che per aggiornare il bios bisogna avere la utitlity AFUDOS con il file .bin del BIOS e un dischetto o altro avviabile DOS con su il programma.

Updating the BIOS file
To update the BIOS file using the AFUDOS utility:

Visit the ASUS website (www.asus.com) and download the latest BIOS file for
the motherboard. Save the BIOS file to a bootable floppy disk.

dici che è l'unico modo? perchè vedo che anche se è vecchia ha il tool ASUS EZ Flash2

Non ho trovato il manuale con il BIOS per controllare se c'è l'opzione di aggiornamento BIOS, se c'è puoi di certo usare quella.
Ecco in questo manuale trovi come fare al capitolo 4.1.5 :

ASUS EZ Flash 2 utility
The ASUS EZ Flash 2 feature allows you to update the BIOS without having
to go through the long process of booting from a floppy disk and using a
DOS‐based utility. You can launch ASUS EZ Flash 2 by press <Alt> + <F2>
during the Power-On Self-Test (POST).
To update the BIOS using EZ Flash 2:
1. Go to the ASUS website (www.asus.com) and download the latest
BIOS file for your motherboard.
2. Save the BIOS file to a floppy disk or a USB flash disk then restart your
computer.
3. You can launch the EZ Flash 2 in two ways:
(1) Insert the floppy disk or USB flash disk that contains the BIOS file
into the floppy disk drive or the USB port.

qui compreso quello di sam999 estrapolando solo le pagine che ti interessano.... cosa vuoi più dalla vita?

Ciao, non sono ancora riuscito ad aggiornare il Bios perchè non riesco a formattare il DVD in Fat32

Il dvd nn si formatta, si scrive la iso sul dvd, eventualmente, si formatta la chiavetta.
