1. Cosa stai usando per archiviare il backup? Chiavetta USB? Disco rigido esterno? Gdrive? (mi sembra quest'ultimo)
2. Se è un dispositivo fisico di archiviazione, è integro (nel senso che non ha settori danneggiati per cui ci potrebbero essere problemi con la copia del backup)?
3. Se è una cartella Gdrive, hai provato a fare un backup locale su chiavetta o disco (anche esterno) per vedere se in questo modo funziona?
4. Si tratta di un backup completo o incrementale?
5. Quanto è grande il backup completo? E quello incrementale?
6. Con quale frequenza viene fatto il backup completo? E quello incrementale?

5.6 provo a spiegarmi , scusandomi in anticipo se non abbia saputo focalizzare adeguatamente a questione bene per limiti tecnici: ricordo di aver potuto fare solo un primo back up completo con tanti gb e poi i seguenti a cadenza discretamente regolare per l' uso che ho fatto negli ultimi anni del notebook.. diciamo 1 volta ogni 2 o 3 settimane con files nuovi in quantità veramente minima.

Da questo mi sembra di capire sia un disco USB esterno, è corretto?

"Dovrebbe" non è un'opzione: senza stare a fare nulla di complesso, usa l'utilità "Dischi" disponibile nel gruppo "Utilità" di Ubuntu per dargli un'occhiata. Guarda se ci sono settori problematici, lo stato di salute generale del dispositivo, da "Dati e test smart" potresti anche avviare un test dell'unità e vedere cosa ne viene fuori.

Ma soprattutto, su questa unità c'è abbastanza spazio per i backup? E sempre connessa al PC oppure collegata alla bisogna?

Quanto è vecchio il primo backup completo?

Se per qualsiasi motivo sei costretto a fare un ripristino, ti ritroverai a ripristinare i dati vecchi come il cucco del primo backup completo, e poi man mano a ripristinare uno per uno tutti i backup incrementali successivi partendo dall'epoca dei dinosauri ad oggi. Se solo uno di quei file di backup è corrotto ed il suo ripristino non riesce...

È questo il motivo per cui ogni tanto:
- si crea un nuovo backup completo;
- si testa il ripristino dei backup assicurandosi che vada a buon fine.

Credo di aver capito che nel tempo Dejadup ha cambiato backend passando da Duplicity a Restic per la gestione sotto il cofano dei backup, e Restic è più furbo: ci pensa lui a fare ogni tanto un backup completo da cui ripartire proprio per evitare queste situazioni, ma non so nel tuo caso come sia la situazione.

Se vuoi toglierti la curiosità, vado a memoria, dai un'occhiata se nella cartella di destinazione del backup c'è una sottocartella "restic", perché a leggere i tuoi settings

al momento sembra che stia usando Duplicity (quello meno furbo) ed il primo backup completo risale al 28/10/2023, quasi 2 anni fa.

1) perché hai cambiato oggetto alla discussione?
2) BU sta per backup?
3) Puoi separare chiaramente la parte del testo dell'errore che hai ricevuto dall'utility Dischi rispetto a tutto il resto? Sembrerebbe comunque ci sia qualche problema, segui questa discussione sul come fare un'analisi più approfondita della situazione del disco.
4) Verifica anche l'altro disco.
5) Hai mai testato se il ripristino di almeno uno dei due backup funziona?
