Installazione Qemu - problema con CVS

Ciao ragazzi!
Sto cercando di installare qemu, ma ho dei problemi.
Vi illustro i passaggi:

- ho scaricato il file "qemu-0.8.0.tar.gz" dal sito (sono i sorgenti)

- Poi da shell: 

$ tar zxvf /home/NOME UTENTE/Desktop/qemu-0.8.0.tar.gz
$ cd qemu-0.8.0

- Dopodichè (leggendo una piccola guida) ho visto che occorre scaricare un file (qvm86) via CVS:

$ export CVS_RSH=ssh
$ export CVSROOT=:ext:anoncvs@savannah.gnu.org:/cvsroot/qvm86
$ cvs -z3 co qvm86

Qui sorge il problema, infatti dopo aver scritto i comandi sopraelencati, mi scire:

CVS moved to cvs.savannah.[non]gnu.org

Anonymous access over SSH is replaced by the (more efficient) pserver.
cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)

allora provo scrivendo:

CVSROOT=:ext:anoncvs@savannah.gnu.org:/cvsroot/qvm86

(senza il 'non' davanti a 'gnu')

e risponde:

Sono andato all'url indicato... ma nonostante abbia provato nuovamente, la risposta è più o meno sempre quella.

Proprio oggi ho installato Qemu direttamente da synaptic e sembra funzionare perfettamente.
Perché mai usare CVS?
