quando riavii il pc, tieni premuto il tasto shift, a questo punto visualizzi il menu di grub, ora tu stai usando il kernel
prova a scegliere il
o precedente sperando che ci sia ancora e non l'abbia disinstallato...
quindi una volta avviato reinstalla virtualbox con
....

ho fatto cm hai detto e ho messo il linux-image-2.6.38-11-generic-pae
però mi da sempre questo problema

filo1234 ho disinstallato virtualbox e poi volevo vedere se partiva riscaricando il file........però c'è 1 problema....
ora nn parte più il software centre(compare solo la schermata) e nn riesco a installare niente...

Questo è un altro problema per cui forse è maglio aprire un altro 3D , se hai il deb di VBox puoi comunque installarlo da terminale col comando
Ovviamente il comando va dato col terminale posizionato nella cartella che contiene il file da installare
