Prova da terminale, con la stampante accesa e collegata, a dare il comando:

e posta il risultato del comando.

Quindi, se reinstallassimo il pacchetto 'Cups'?

consigliare di fare l'aggiornamento a hplip, installando la versione aggiornata, e non da repository ufficiale di Ubuntu. Non è che si corre il rischio che la versione aggiornata da problemi?
Vista le problematiche nella sezione tecnica ultimamente faccio ricordare, che la maggior parte si ha problemi con quelle versioni nuove. Hanno ancora sempre qualche bug da risolvere. Non sono stabili. Si consiglia di ritornare indietro.

Hai installato un kernel generic sul sistema? o hai soltanto il lowlatency?
prova avviare il sistema con kernel generic. e prova la stampante.

un problema, è che il comando hp-doctor è contradditorio rispetto all'avvio di cups.service
il primo dice che non è avviato, mentre il secondo sta correndo (active: running), ma non riesce a creare /var/spool
posta qui l'output di terminale

@ ivantu - io con la nuova distribuzione, di hplip, ho aggiornato sia la 18.4 che la 22.4, su queste distribuzioni ho la stampante hp laser jet 1020 e la stampante hp laser M140we e non ho avuto nessun problema.Tutto questo su due pc.
