[Risolto] Il tasto "p" smette di funzionare dopo il login

CIao, spero di essere nella sezione giusta
mi capita una cosa strana e fastidiosa
sul vecchio portatile, Acer Aspire E 15, con Ubuntu 24.04, il tasto "p" funziona se lo premo al login, per inserire nome utente e password, ma una volta loggato smette di funzionare: non scrive più la lettera p
Qualcuno ha idea di cosa può essere successo?

1. Apri il Terminale.
2. Digita il comando

3. Si aprirà una piccola finestra nera, chiamata "Event Tester". Muovi possibilmente il poco possibile il mouse, altrimenti verranno registrati tutti i movimenti nel terminale, che a noi non ci interessa.
4. Premi i tasti della tastiera "p" in questo caso, e nel terminale visualizzerai tutti i codici e i dettagli relativi a ogni singolo tasto premuto.
5. Per chiudere il test, basta chiudere la finestra.
6. Copia qui il contenuto dell'output visualizzato al terminale.

Apri Inpostazion>Tastiera e fai click sui 3 puntini a destra > visualizza tastiera ti verrà presentato il layout della tua tastiera o almeno quello che il sistema crede.
vedi se la p sta al posto giusto, clicca sul tasto..

hai provato a verificare con un kernel precedente, se il tasto viene riconosciuto?

altrimenti è un problema hardware, o della polvere entrata nel meccanismo non permette di fare contatto elettrico sulla scheda.
Prova a fare una pulizia con una pressione di aria leggera sulla tastiera (evitando di portarti via anche i caratteri stampati sui tasti.. o portalo in assistenza.

purtroppo il problema perdura attraverso vari kernel di aggiornamento...
non può essere un problema hardware, perché in quel caso non funzionerebbe neanche al login, invece al momento di scrivere la password il tasto scrive qualcosa; cioè naturalmente io vedo solo che aggiunge un punto quando premo il tasto p, però almeno lo schermo in qualche modo "reagisce" alla pressione del tasto;
poi, una volta loggato, zero di zero...

ti ho suggerito di fare click con il mouse sul tasto 'p' che vedi nella IMMAGINE della tastiera, hai provato?

Altra prova: se premi il tasto (quello fisico) premendo il maiuscolo cosa succede? e tenendo premuto Alt Gr?

Allora

1. Verifica il comportamento nella TTY virtuale
Apri il terminale virtuale premendo la combinazione di tasti Ctrl + Alt + F3, effettuare il login testuale e verificare se il tasto problematico risponde correttamente fuori dall'ambiente grafico.
Se il tasto funziona nella TTY, il problema è circoscritto all'ambiente grafico o al gestore di sessione; se non funziona nemmeno lì, il problema riguarda i driver del kernel o l'hardware.

2. Controlla i log del kernel con dmesg
Esegui il comando

dmesg -T | grep -iE "keyboard|input"

per verificare se il kernel rileva errori legati alla periferica di input o a conflitti di driver al momento dell'inizializzazione o dopo il cambio di stato.
La presenza di errori critici o messaggi di disconnessione (disconnect/fault) associati alla tastiera indica un problema a livello di driver.

3. Ispezionare la configurazione dell'ambiente grafico
Verifica se il Display Manager GDM ( o se altri installati insieme, come SDDM o LightDM) o il demone di gestione delle impostazioni della tastiera (come kxkb, setxkbmap o le impostazioni della tastiera dell'ambiente desktop) sta sovrascrivendo la mappa dei tasti subito dopo l'avvio della sessione utente.

dopo il login il tasto riprende a funzionare, la causa è un comando di configurazione del layout eseguito all'avvio della sessione.

scusami, hai ragione, non avevo capito bene
comunque anche premendo il tasto (che si trova regolarmente al suo posto nella tastiera virtuale che compare cliccando sui tre puntini) con il mouse, non determina alcuna reazione nel terminale
però, compare un breve elenco con tutti i caratteri associati a quel tasto (allego screenshot), il terzo è questo þ (denominato thorn)
Se, in qualunque programma di scrittura, premo "Alt Gr + p" funziona e scrive appunto il carattere thorn ossia þ
Aggiungo, anche se faccio Ctrl+p funziona, nel senso che apre la finestra di stampa

E se dovessi trattarsi di una scorciatoia in conflitto o di un software in background che ha "sequestrato" quel carattere?

Aggiungo, anche se faccio Ctrl+p funziona, nel senso che apre la finestra di stampa

GNOME in passato aveva o ha tutt'ora un bug noto per cui se assegni per errore una combinazione di tasti a un comando usando solo una lettera, quella lettera smette di funzionare nei testi.

Come era stato suggerito dalla verifica grafica delle scorciatoie anche dall'utente @corradoventu, il modo più rapido per risolvere i conflitti dell'interfaccia grafica è resettare via terminale le scorciatoie di sistema ai valori di fabbrica. Apri il terminale ed esegui:

Dopo aver lanciato questi comandi, assicurati di riavviare la sessione per rendere effettivo il comando, e prova immediatamente a digitare la "p".

Se hai creato una scorciatoia personalizzata assegnandola alla "p" (magari per lanciare un programma), la lettera non scriverà più.
Apri le Impostazioni di GNOME. Vai su Tastiera -> Visualizza e personalizza scorciatoie. Scorri fino in fondo e clicca su Scorciatoie personalizzate. Controlla se è presente una voce associata alla lettera p ed eliminala.
Dopo aver eliminato le scorciatoie personalizzate, digita nuovamente la "p" per verificare la funzionalità.

Poi, alcune estensioni di terze parti (come window manager alternativi o gestori di appunti) possono catturare i tasti. Apri l'applicazione Estensioni (GNOME Extensions) o Tweaks (Personalizzazioni). Disattiva l'interruttore generale in alto per spegnere tutte le estensioni. Se la "p" riprende a funzionare, riattivale una alla volta per trovare quella difettosa.

Se usi programmi come Xbindkeys o utility per il rimappaggio, potrebbero aver bloccato l'input. Verifica anche che non sia attiva la digitazione facilitata tramite Impostazioni -> Accessibilità -> Digitazione. Se la "p" continua a non scrivere nemmeno dopo il reset dei comandi gsettings posti sopra, potresti dirmi anche:
Se premi Maiusc + p (la "P" maiuscola), la lettera viene scritta o rimane comunque bloccata? La "p" non funziona nemmeno se provi a digitarla nella barra di ricerca delle attività di GNOME (premendo il tasto Super/Windows)?

Effettivamente disattivando tutte le estensioni il tasto p ha ricominciato a funzionare!
Ho riattivato quelle preinstallate e tutto sta funzionando,
