ok, credo che il problema sia proprio nel resolv.conf che non esiste.. e quindi non imposta il dns.
Dovrebbe bastare crearlo. Fai cosi:

sudo gedit /etc/resolv.conf

e scrivi dentro

poi riavvia la rete con

allora network-menager nn lo ho installato tra i programmi per cui nn ce l'ho...
la rete che ho nn ha password è nn protetta...che devo fare devo rinunciare?

Se tra aggiornamenti di Ubuntu c'era un aggiornamento del kernel, allora devi ricompilarti il modulo del driver della scheda wireless affichè questo sia di nuovo funzionante...
