Quelli di default erano quelli dell'installazione di Ubuntu... Quando l'ho installato, la scheda era stata riconosciuta...

Se riuscissi a capire quale è il pacchetto, potresti marcarlo per la reinstallazione da synaptic.
Prova a cercarlo, magari basandoti sul nome della tua scheda audio

Ma se installo quelli presi dal sito alsa ma una versione precedente?

Boh  :-\  tentare non nuoce

Allora la mia attuale situazione è questa:
- alsa-lib, alsa-utils, alsa-driver presi dal sito all'ultima versione disponibile...
- installati e correttamente funzionanti...
- provo ad installare il hsfmodemxxxx.deb e mi da i seguenti messaggi:

Da notare snd_hda_codec: disagrees about version of symbol snd_ctl_add che sono dei nuovi messaggi che mi appaiono soltanto se installo i driver del modem;

Praticamente da quello che ho capito i file installatti con alsa/lib/modules/2.6.20-16-generic/kernel/sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-intel.ko.REPLACEDBYhsfmodem vengono rinominati/sostituiti con /lib/modules/2.6.20-16-generic/extra/snd-hda-intel.ko
Lo stesso vale per il file snd-hda-codec.ko...

Ho notato anche che la dimensione dei due file è differente fra loro...

-Ho provato a sostituire i file snd-hda-XXXXREPLACEDBYhsfmodem e metterli nella directory EXTRA rinominandoli come da origine...
-L'audio ha ripreso a funzionare....

Ho installato il mio modem Conexant HSF 56k HSFi Modem (rev 01) seguendo la tua guida e poi ho configurato kPPP, visto che uso Kubuntu 7.04. La connessione parte, è ottima, la velocità che ottengo è quella che mi aspetto, ma succede spesso che la connessione cade, qualche volta dopo qualche minuto, qualche volta dopo 10 minuti, qualche volta dopo mezz'ora, dandomi Modem HangUp (lo vedo dal log di kPPP), con errore di uscita 16 (exit code). Installando altri driver, per esempio quello di linuxant, questo non succede. Non è un problema puro di connessione, visto che non succede se mi collego con Windows XP. Credo sia effettivamente un problema di driver o di qualche setting. Sai suggerirmi qualcosa per risolvere il problema?

p.s.: la stessa cosa succede in Ubuntu 7.04  >:(



SOLUZIONE : per avere una connessione stabile ho dovuto staccare fisicamente la scheda di rete dalla motherboard, visto che la semplice disabilitazione creava lo stesso qualche conflitto

- installati e correttamente funzionanti...

Ma questi driver presi dal sito, erano sempre file .deb ?
Da synaptic i pacchetti alsa-lib, alsa-utils, alsa-driver a che versione li vedi?

leggi  il wiki di ubuntu, cmq se non sbaglio dovresti fare da terminale : sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
dopodichè nel file wvdialconf hai tutti i dati che ti servono, comprese le stringhe di inizializzazione che poi devi cambiare.

ora ho installato i driver scaricati da LINUXANT per il kernel della 7.10
installazione riuscita, riconoscimento del modem, connessione ... in sospeso

smanetterò un po'

in conclusione

i driver rilasciati da DELL "vanno" come quelli della LINUXANT (14k) ?

io temo di aver lo stesso problema d iperboreo (che poi sembra avere risolto)
riesco a connettermi, ma dopo qualche minuto - che possono essere cinque, dieci, mezzora... non è sempre costante il lasso di tempo - si sconnette...
questo mi accade sia quando magari lascio il pc acceso ad aggiornare qualche pacchetto synaptic, sia quando sono intento nella navigazione e sento proprio il rumore del clack della connessione che si chiude...
iperboreo aveva risolto eliminando fisicamente la scheda di rete dalla scheda madre, io purtroppo l'ho integrata....
suggerimenti?

ti da la versione del kernel, poi cerca su synaptic l pacchetti che iniziano per "linux-headers-"
Controlla se quello della tua versione del kernel è installato.

Se non era installato potrebbe essere quello il motivo per cui non ti funziona il driver dell (che poi è sempre quello linuxant, solo che non è precompilato)

E quì ho porvato a scrivere il mio problema...io penso che con i driver (ALSA) aggiornati il driver non funzioni uguale a ciò che dice sopra...

dispiace che a voi non funzioni, a me con gutsy finalmente si, modello modem conexant hsfi 56k 14f1:2f00, velocità buona( per il tipo di connessione), stabile.
cmq non funzionava sino a quando ho cambiato linux-image, linux restricted modules, linux headers ecc.ecc. , disinstallato da synaptic i generic ed installato tutto per i386, reboot, uname -r kernel 2.6.22.14 386, quindi tutto ok.
disinstallato hsfmodem, reinstallato da terminale( sudo dpkg -i), poi ho copiato i dati presenti in home/utente/.wvdialconf, nel etc/wvdialconf(  avevo già modificato le stringhe di inizializzazione ); di nuovo reboot provato modem tutto ok, alla faccia di quelli della dell che dicono non funzionante su gutsy. quindi a loro parere è meglio pagare la licenza a linuxant .
terrò da parte il driver della dell prima che venga modificato con restrizioni.
unico neo : rimane la scritta connessione in corso( anche se si è già connessi), ma oramai è risaputo essere un bug di gnome-ppp, quindi aspettare la nuova versione del dialer oppure montare kppp.

Non ho messo Gutsy sul pc dove ho il conexant, però avevo provato con il live cd (di gusty beta o tribe5)  e il driver funzionava.
Forse dipende anche dal modello esatto del modem.

Comunque allle brutte, se proprio si vuole Gutsy, si può anche fare l'aggiornamento del sistema e poi far partire Gutsy con il vecchio kernel di Feisty dal menu iniziale di grub, cosi il driver dovrebbe continuare a funzionare senza neanche il bisogno di reinstallarlo.

Perche mi dice che mancava nua libreria... mi pare libasound.0.02 che è contenuta in libasound2...
Ma non avendo la connessione nopn ho potuto riscaricare i pacchetti...
Come mi riattivano l'adsl faccio tutte le prove...

Un'altra prova che volevo fare era quella di rimuovere tutti i driver che ho installato menualmente e installare il vecchi kernel e poi l'ultimo dei repository...

Potresti fare come faccio io di solito, una volta che hai marcato i pacchetti in synaptic, usi la funzione "Genera script per il download dei pacchetti"
Porti lo script da qualche parte dove puoi accedere ad una connessione veloce, scarichi i pacchetti con lo script, te li riporti a casa, poi sui la funzione "Aggiungi pacchetti scaricati" di synaptic.

Si può fare anche se l'altro pc ha Winzoz, gli installi wget per winzoz, e trasformi lo script .sh in un .bat (cancellando la prima riga)

da quello che vedo nel forum dell, utilizzi il kernel generic, se non hai particolare bisogno( dual core, oppure processori ht) prova a passare ad un kernel più adatto al tuo processore.

non saprei, cmq ho visto che nel forum trovi qualcosa sull'argomento, da quel poco che ho letto e capito, il kernel generic è adatto a tutti i processori( a parte 64bit) e non dovrebbe dare problemi, io ho voluto installare per gutsy tutto ( image, restricted modules ecc) per 386, in quanto penso che al mio pc vecchiotto(pIII) vada meglio con l'architettura 386; altro non ti sò dire, ciao.
