Ciao ho fatto un aggiornamento da hoary a breezy e non mi riconosce più il dvd+rw...anche prima con la 5.04 mi dava problemi, solo che guardando qua :http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/fujitsu.html avevo risolto; adesso, pur mettendo la stessa stringa nel file menu.lst (hdc=noprobe hdc=cdrom) non me lo riconosce più...cioè, devo mettere il cd e riavviare e dopo me lo apre, ma una volta chiuso non me lo riapre più finchè non lo riavvio..grazie dell'aiuto

Cosa significa, "non riconosce più il cdrom"? Se imposti per masterizzare un cd/dvd ti dice che non esiste la /dev?

Nel senso che non posso neanche provare a masterizzare: se inserisco il cdrom proprio non lo monta, è come se non lo inserissi...se poi vado sull'icona del pc sotto risorse->computer e provo ad aprirlo, compare la finestra (per annullare l'apertura del cdrom clicca su annulla" e poi niente. non lo apre..con la 5.04, insrendo le righe suddette funziona, con la breezy no...

Richiedo: i pacchetti cdrecord e mkisofs sono installati?
Che programma usi/useresti per masterizzare?

Potrebbe anche essere un problema che si risolve coi prossimi aggiornamenti.

si idue pacchetti sono installati..per masterizzare non uso nessun programma dato che la mia unica preoccupazione adesso è quella di far andare il lettore/masterizzatore dvd+rw Ricoh (mi sembra si chiami cosi)..sulla hoary mi dava lo stesso problema ma inserendo queste "hdc=noprobe hdc=cdrom" nella riga del kernel nel file menu.lst, al successivo riavvio funzionava tutto, mentre adesso no...cioè, devo inserireil cd (o dvd) e riavviare il tutto, allora mi compare il desktop con l'icona del cdrom montato...se però lo smonto poi devo ripetere il riavvio perchè lo rimonti un'altra volta...quindi il sistema del file menu.lst in parte funziona, forse la soluzione sta proprio nel dover riavviare il pc, magari bisogna cambiare qualke impostazione....se può essere utile posto il risultato di dmesg hdc:

PS: ho provato per curiosità ad aprire serpentine, e la prima cosa che dice è che non ha trovato nessuno drive di scrittura...

La stringa in /etc/fstab c'è, dovresti riuscire a montarlo con:
sudo mount /media/cdrom
o
sudo mount /dev/hdc

Verifica che sia installato ubuntu-desktop

ubuntu-desktop è installato ma non monta niente con entrambi i comandi..se lancio il comando mi chiede la password ma poi non succede più nulla, anzi per uscire non funziona neanche ctrl+c, devo chiudere la shell...

Apri ->Applicazione ->Strumenti di sistema ->Monitor di sistema e vedi che processi hai aperti.

ci sono due mount (queli che fatto io) che sono "non interrompibili", e un halt-probe-storage, anch'esso "non interrompibile"....e poi tutta 8una serie di processi in "sleeping"...

Sono inerenti il cdrom? Se si uccidili e riavvi il demone (riprovi a montare il cdrom) non ne sono certo perchè non posso vedere il tuo computer, ma se sono in esecuzione dei processi di mount, occupano la device e non puoi farne altri. Se quando tenti il mount ti risponde qualcosa tipo device is busy, devi killare uno o entrambi quei processi. Io proverei con:
sudo killall nomeprocesso.

ho provato a killare  hald-probe-storage (l'unico non interrompibile) ma niente non si interrompe..cmq non penso sia questo il problema perchè neanche con ubuntu appena installato mi monta il cd, e non penso ci siano processi di quel tipo in esecuzione se prima non è mai stato montato niente....ho guardato anche la documentazione del kernel ma non ci capsico molto....

ciao si è un bug, ma ancora dalla hoary è riconosciuto come bug, solo che in quel caso bastava aggiungere nel file menu.lst, alla fine della riga di opzioni del kernel la stringa hdc=noprobe hdc=cdrom, e tutto funzionava...un mio amico molto esperto della distribuzione e di linux in generale mi ha velocemente accennato alla possibilità di passare alla breezy tramite aggiornamento (e non reinstallazione) con apt-get, e successivamente tenere il kernel vecchio (che, tramite aggiornamento non viene sovrascritto)per questo problema (in modo da far andare il lettore) e usare quello nuovo per il resto..non so, io l'ho capita così. è possibile?
