a me ancora non è chiara una cosa.. usando i driver proprietari si ottiene effettivamente un aumento della qualità/velocità di compiz? A me con i driver open funziona tutto..certo però se potesse essere più veloce qualche prova la farei..

EDIT:

Farei un riassunto visto che ora mi funziona anche fglrx (versione kernel 2.6.22-14):
  • x usare i driver radeon = disintallare xorg-driver-fglrx
  • per usare fglrx = installare xorg-driver-fglrx, riconfigurare xorg.conf, riavviare; se si fa "modprobe fglrx" sembra dare problemi, perchè c'è ancora in funzione il modulo drm..riavviando il sistema fglrx si carica correttamente!

installato kernel 22-14
disinstallato kernel 22-12
disinstallati driver ati ufficiali (e tutte le voci di riferimento a fglrx)
editato xorg.conf e messi driver vesa.
riavvio.
$ sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
editato xorg.conf e messi driver fglrx
riavvio.

Comincio a pensare che non leggete quello che si scrive ;D
2) Installato il pacchetto xserver-xgl (che si autoconfigura)
Se non lo installi col piffero che hai gli effetti ;)

ho fatto un macello... ma alla fine ho disinstallato tutto xorg e dipendenze... reinstallato da zero... installato di nuovo gnome e tutto va alla perfezione!!! ho una ati mobility 9600 turbo!!!
oggi segno questo giorno nel calendario!!!!

Allora fermi!!! Oggi ho installato la RC. Ho una Ati x700, fiducioso attivo i driver ati, riavvio ma mi dice che non trova bene la scheda video e devo usare i vesa. Se do

non puoi ancora, i prossimi driver dovrebbero permetterlo.

il modulo radeon e' gia' presente nel kernel..devi aprire /etc/X11/xorg.conf e sostituire i driver della sezione "Device" "Driver" con radeon
Poi, bisogna scaricare anche il metapacchetto:

sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-ati
il supporto dei driver radeon va dalla 7000 alla x1050 compresa.. la x700 e' pienamente supportata.
Aiglx e' gia' attivo in Xorg7.2, quindi non c'e' da abilitare nulla.

Scusate io sono niubbio...

Dopo aver installato ubuntu,andando su sistema,amministrazione,schermi,scheda grafica.

Poi che cosa bisogna selezionare per avere le migliori prestazioni con ATI X800XT?

e mi si sono avviati gli effetti. ma non doveva caricarlo in auto ? >_>
