[Risolto] [Video] Strano comportamento nella risoluzione video

I problemi sono iniziati a Natale, quando ho ricevuto in regalo un monitor HP w1907v con risoluzione 1440x900 a 60 Hz.

Prima avevo un 19' CRT, con una ATI radeon 1650 da 512 Mb e tutto funzionava per il meglio.

Installato il monitor sono cominciati i guai, poichè il sistema non ne voleva sapere di farlo funzionare correttamente. Se settavo il "widescreen" venivano inviate frequenze verticali ed orizzontali non adatte e la visione era impossibile.

Finalmente, dopo moltissimi tentativi, sono riuscito ad ottenere qualcosa. Ora ubuntu mi riconosce il monitor e si setta sulla risoluzione giusta. Al riavvio però le cose tornano sempre come prima.

Tutto il settore di avvio viene visualizzato in modalità 4/3; poi, dopo il riconoscimento utente, sono riuscito al massimo ad ottenere una risoluzione di 1280x800 o giù di lì. Per andare al 1440x900 debbo inserirla manualmente ad ogni avvio poichè, evidentemente, il file xorg.conf non viene scritto o viene modificato dal sistema dopo la scrittura.

Ho provato anche ad editare il predetto file, ma non ho ottenuto alcun risultato.

(credo sia il mio stesso monitor (quando torno a casa controllo), ma io non ho avuto nessun problema, l'ha riconosciuto al volo e settato su 1440x900)

ATI Radeon 1650. Ho faticato molto per farla riconoscere ma ora sembra che funzioni. Restano i problemi del monitor.

Ho provato di nuovo a configurare xorg.conf con l'apposito programma. Ora tento il riavvio. Il fatto è che ho già provato in precedenza a fare tale configurazione, senza successo. La risoluzione di 1440x900 viene evidenziata automaticamente dal programma poi, quando si riavvia, tale valore sparisce misteriosamente.

Sembra che il problemi si sia risolto. Però è strano, avrò fatto la dpkg-reconfigure almeno una decina di volte, sempre controllando se la 1440x900 era selezionata, o selezionandola se mancava, ed il computer non ha mai conservato le impostazioni.

Ora ho un'altro problema da risolvere, quello della stampante, ma per questo dovrò inserire un'altro post.

Tutto dipende dall'installazione dell'esatto driver della scheda video. Una volta installato il giusto driver, il monitor viene riconosciuto con esattezza e si riesce a settare tutto per il meglio.

Il driver che ho installato, per la mia scheda è: fglrx, prelevato da sistema; il driver riporta: vesa - Generic VESA video cards.

Una volta installato tale driver, tutto è andato a posto, come per miracolo.
