Salve,

Ho comprato da un mesetto un MacBook 2,2Ghz Core2Duo con 4GB di Ram...
Penso di aver acceso MacOSX tipo 10 volte, non di più dato che ho subito installato Kubuntu che è sempre andato alla grande sul mio vecchio portatile!

Ora mi piacerebbe, ovviamente anche per tornaconto personale dato che ho quache problemino con alcune cosette (ogni tanto si blocca improvvisamente, l'Apple Remote non riesco a farlo funzionare, ecc...), aprire un topic di discussione su tutte le cose che riguardano l'installazione di Ubuntu/Kubuntu su questo Hardware un pò particolare...

Ovviamente non sono disposto solo a "chiedere" ma anche a rispondere dato che molte cosette sono riuscito a farle funzioanare egregiamente...

Scusa ma non ne sono sicuro. Credo (e l'ho letto anche su qualche topic) che lì si discuta solo di linux su altra architettura, mentre ora i MacBook sono Intel a tutti gli effetti e cambia solo che non hanno il Bios...

Comunque per specificare meglio le mie "competenze" (chiedete pure senza problemi!) ed invece le mie incompetenze:

Ok (molte delle quali grazie ai Wiki):
- installazione
- wireless
- audio (apparte il microfono esterno ma è un problema del tipo di porta probabilmente)
- tasti funzione (tutti!)
- rimappatura della tastiera per avere Canc, Ins, PagSu, PagGiù, Inizio e Fine ed il tasto destro da tastiera
- Trackpad con colpetto a due dita per il destro
- Compiz e visualizzazione video
- Lettura dati dalla partizione Mac
- Windows condiviso tra Ubuntu e MacOSX tramite VMWare
- iSight (tramite isight-firmware-tools [ift-extract]), anche con Skype
- Apple Remote (volume, play, pause, forward, backward)

Ko:
- Blocchi inspiegabili del pc (a causa di un intenso utilizzo della Wireless) -> Apparentemente risolto
- "Visualizzazione" di tutta la RAM (io ho 4GB) senza dover compilare il kernel o usare quello "server"
- Scrittura dati sulla partizione Mac
- masterizzatore lento (non riesco ad attivare il DMA)

Io lo ho appena installato sul macbook ma non riesco ad installare il wireless perchè è l'unica connessione che ho qua e non posso accedere su internet, ho scaricato il pacchetto madwifi, ma non riesco ad installarlo, non riesco neanche a fare andare il tasto destro, se mi dai info mi fai un grosso piacere.

anche a me non funziona con madwifi ma funziona benissimo con ndiswrapper

Ora il problema è di dove trovi il file... Siccome io ce l'ho ma non ricordo dove l'ho preso faccio un account sul mio server e lo metto lì (nella home):
server: bozzoserver.no-ip.org (porta 22, quella di SSH)
utente: forumubuntu
password: forumubuntu

il server è di tipo SSH quindi lo puoi copiare con scp o con qualche tool grafico (ad esempio Konqueror consente di connettersi alle cartelle di rete facendo fish://utente@server)

- Tasto Destro:

1) Xorg (per avere il tasto destro facendo doppio clic con due dita) va modificato, al solito, /etc/X11/xorg.conf e la parte Section "InputDevice" la puoi sostituire con questa:

2) Destro con un tasto (la mia configurazione prevede di usare il tasto mela-destro):

devi installare xmodmap (ma penso sia installato di default) che consente di gestire cosa fà ogni tasto. Keycode 116 è appunto la mela di destra per la tastiera del MacBook v3.1, per sicurezza se fai xev puoi controllare il keycode del tasto che interessa (anche se per caso volessi usare un altro tasto rispetto a quello che ho usato io) dato che questo tool ti consente di controllare cosa fà xorg quando tu clicchi (nella casellina bianca che ti si apre) o premi un tasto.
xkbset invece dovrebbe attivare la "navigazione da tastiera" cioè quella che principalmente servirebbe a comandare il puntatore con il tastierino numerico ma che a noi serve solo per avere la possibilità di avere i tasti del mouse da testiera.
Il codice che ti ho riportato basta semplicemente farlo e il destro funziona, però lo dovresti fare ogni volta che ti logghi, quindi lo devi automatizzare. Il modo più semplice secondo me (ma è solo "gusto") è quello di inserirlo in uno stupido script bash (basta aggiungerci a monte #bin/bash) ed inserirlo nella cartella degli script lanciati all'avvio (in Kubuntu, ad esempio, è ~/.kde/Autostart).

Spero di aver spiegato bene, se così non fosse ditemelo che cerco di correggere dove non sono stato chiaro.

- funziona anche la iSight
- i blocchi improvvisi sono causati (quasi) sicuramente dalla wireless con ndiswrapper, ma altro modo per farla funzionare per ora non c'è...

P.S. Mi dispiace che questo topic non trovi "adepti", eppure mi sembrava una buona idea... Sul forum internazionale c'è una board apposta per gli utenti di Ubuntu su Apple Intel...

Aggiorno (anche se sembra che non sia molto utile questo post...):

-I blocchi insipagabili del pc sembrano risolti dal kernel fornito dal team "mactel".

-L'AppleIR funziona ricompilando i "linux-ubuntu-modules" (per cambiare l'ID della periferica) con una semplice procedura che prende al massimo 5 minuti e non richiede nemmeno il reboot.

premesso che possiedo un macbook core 2 duo combo,
ho installato kubuntu gutsy,attualmente possiedo il kernel 2.6.22-14-generic.
Ho configurato un po tutto seguendo topic qua' e la',due cose non mi riescono proprio.

1)l'audio risulta un po' rumoroso,e dal forellino laterale dove si inseriscono le cuffie resta accesa una luce rossa.
consigli?

2)la webcam isight non vuol saperne.

Cosa intendi per combo?! Macbook SantaRosa v3.1?!

Allora:

- il rumore dall'uscita audio l'ho letto in qualche post ma io non l'ho mai sperimentato, e quindi purtroppo non sò come aiutarti. Per la luce rossa (che è quella dell'uscita digitale ottica) ho notato che kmixer, che dovrebbe accenderla/spegnerla tramite il controllo IEC958 non lo fà, quindi io ho risolto con l'analogo controllo però direttamente da alsamixer (da shell digiti "alsamixer").

- la isight non subito, dato che la Apple aveva cambiato il firmware rispetto alle precedenti versioni di MacBook, ma solo verso fine gennaio ha iniziato a funzionarmi. Ovviamente devi mettere il pacchetto "isight-firmware-tools" sui repo mactel ("deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mactel-support/ubuntu hardy main" nel sources.list) e se lui non ti chiedesse niente al momento dell'istallazione gli dai un bel

e nel percorso inserisci il percorso del firmware dell'Isight (normalmente si monta la partizione su cui c'è MacOsX e si punta al percorso già puntato di default, correggendo se servisse la parte iniziale: io monto la partizione in /media/MacHD/ e quindi il percorso è "/media/MacHD/System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBVideoSupport.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleUSBVideoSupport"). A quel punto dopo aver risposto alle domande di configurazione ti dovrebbe rimanere un output così:

il mio macbook e' un calistoga,dovrebbe essere l'ultima versione uscita.
l'audio era quello il problema ed e' stato risolto come dicevi te'.

Ora per quanto riguarda l'isight ,facendo come dici te non mi fa installare il pacchetto perche' esiste solo per hardy,quindi non soddisfa le dipendenze di gutsy,che e' la mia versione...

Poi volevo chiederti se gentilmente puoi postare il tuo xorg,per confrontarlo con il mio,ho dovuto modificare diversi parametri sia per il touchpad che per la scheda video e schermo,affinche' potessi avere il touch ok e la scheda video col 3d funzionante.
Il mio e' cosi' adesso,forse si puo' migliorare ancora levando qualcosa,non so'. lo posto qui

L'isight a me funzionava anche prima dell'aggiornamente ad hardy (lunedì scorso) e mi si installava il auddetto pacchetto... Il problema è che come un tonto ti ho scritto il repo per hardy... Sostituisci "hardy" in "gutsy" nel repo che ti ho indicato e vedrai che funzionerà...

purtroppo facendo come dici te ,mi dice che il pacchetto non esiste....
mentre con hardy me lo trova,ma mancano le dipendenze,boh.

hai ragione, ho controllato i pacchetti per gutsy non ci sono più, evidentemente oramai lo sviluppo è solo su hardy...
A questo punto ti consiglio di passare ad hardy. A me funziona tutto come prima apparte la perdita delle funzionalità "particolari" del Touchpad (fornite da synaptics).

Oppure prova a vedere quali sono e dipendenze che servono per installare il pacchetto isight per hardy e cerca di soddisfarle...

ti ringrazio, comunque mi hai aiutato abbastanza...
Ora sto facendo delle prove in base al tuo xorg.
Ad esempio togliendo la parte inerente il "wacom" per tablet pc mi sembra che kubuntu si avvia piu' velocemente.
Ora provo la tua configurazione del touchpad per vedere se e' meglio della mia

siete riusciti a far andare anche il mic interno del macbook? Io non ho avuto nessun problema con l'isight (ho utilizzato il pacchetto di mactel), ma non riesco ancora a registrare la voce, c'è qualcos'altro da impostare?

Per il mic non ti posso aiutare visto che con la webcam sono in altomare....
Alla fine ho configurato cosi' l'xorg scopiazzando molte cose dal tuo bozzochet,e mi sembra la soluzione migliore!

Ma l'isight da gutsy o da hardy?
Per il mic non ti posso aiutare visto che con la webcam sono in altomare....

Ho installato stamattina la hardy,
stavo mettendo a posto il mio ubuntu, mi manca solo il mic, per il resto ha preso tutto  . Per la wireless, io ho risolto installando i madwifi, ma non so se per i santarosa vanno bene, comunque il link del relativo how-to è il seguente:
