niente da fare la situazione non cambia, su restricted manager c'è selezionata la casella di spunta ma i driver risultano non in uso, infatto da fglrx risultano ancora i mesa.

La cosa veramente strana è che fglrx non viene proprio caricato... per diagnosticare il motivo potresti avviare in modalità utente singolo (quella senza interfaccia grafica) e provare un sudo modprobe fglrx e poi vedere in dmesg il messaggio che esce fuori.

allora dando sudo modprobe fglrx sia in modalità normale che in modalità sicura mi dà un errore FATAL: ecc...
poi ho provato ad avviare in modalità normale ma non l'ultimo kernel ma il penultimo (il 2.20) e la situazione è questa:

inoltra sempre con il penultimo kernel dando il comando sudo modprobe fglrx non mi dà l'errore di prima.

quindi il problema sta proprio nel modulo... prova un pò seguento questa guida: http://lucamarchi.wordpress.com/2007/12 ... rto-aiglx/ (naturalmente devi sostituire la versione 8.42.3 con la 8.40 e devi far attenzione a non abilitare il composite). In poche parole la guida ti fa costruire un pacchetto .deb a partire dall'installer ati (così facendo puoi essere sicuro che il modulo che verrà costruito sarà conforme al kernel attualmente in uso e non dovrebbe più dirti FATAL...)

Da 8.42 in poi non è cambiato più niente di grosso, installa quelli che vuoi ma l'importante è che venga ricostruito il modulo fglrx altrimenti non ti funziona niente.

nella schermata che hai postato c'è un'opzione che ti mostra quel file di log... credo che il file si trovi in /usr/share/ati (ma non ne sono affatto sicuro) e mi interessava sapere cosa ci fosse scritto.demish ha scritto: cioè tradotto in codici?
Per i sorgenti basta che apri synaptic e selezioni il kernel source col numero di versione che stai usando.

ad occhio e croce direi che sei con l'accelerazione del driver open source... senza un log che dica qual è il problema però non so davvero cosa consigliarti... a questo punto potresti giocarti il tutto per tutto provando a lanciare l'installer (ma non credo che funzioni).

Cosa vuoi dire? AIGLX è un modulo di X "non supportato" dai driver ATI (forse gli ultimi lo supportano ma malissimo)Secondo me però gli fglrx senza aiglx (cioè quelli restricted manager) non me li fa mettere.

Il restricted manager è un programma di ubuntu per la gestione automatica dei moduli proprietari, tra cui i driver ATI, che però sono gli stessi che si installano con ENVY o manualmente, cambia solo la versione, che per il restricted di solito non è l'ultimissima disponibile ...
