Ragazzi, non ce la faccio piu'.
Credetemi, e' da una settimana che passo mediamente 10 ore al terminale e non vorrei io .....terminare Wink
Ho la spia dell' hard disk quasi sempre accesa e la ventola che anche lei spesso e volentieri pompa a tutta.
Ho cercato e letto credo l'impossibile, pero' considerato che non ho alcuna esperienza di linux (purtroppo era da 15 anni che usavo l'innominabile) piu' leggo piu' mi incasino e il morale mi scende

ho visto anche messaggi di errore in bootstrap.log, ma non so come fare a salvarlo su testo per inviarlo

ma sinceramente prima di provare a smanecchiare nelle tabelle DSDT , considerando che non so neppure estrarre una schermata di testo, mi sembra voler esagerare e quindi consiglio.
Sopra ho estratto io le varie righe del dmesg che mi sembrava presentassero errori o problemi, quello completo lo allego.

Innanzi tutto ti do il benvenuto e ti consiglio di portare pazienza perchè ubuntu è un sistema "altro" da windows e come tutte le cose nuove ci vuole tempo per impararle...

Io ci ho messo una settimana solo per fare la connessione! >:(

Poi ti dirò che non ho capito niente del tuo problema, il pc non si avvia? ???

Cerca di spiegarti meglio e non farti prendere dal panico, lo smarrimento iniziale lo abbiamo passato tutti...

Il portatile (ibm T40) all'apparenza va bene, con ubuntu 7.10 si e' collegato immediatamente tramite pcmcia (al contrrio di opensuse e fedora);

Il problema e' che la ventola e' quasi sempre in moto ad alta velocita' e la spia che indica attivita' dell'hard disk (non so se in lettura e/o scrittura) e' praticamente sempre accesa anche dopo decine di minuti di inattivita' , cosa che con xp non succedeva e che mi preoccupa per la durata dell'hard disk.

Ecco questo e' il "solo" problema :ventola quasi sempre a manetta e spia disco fisso praticamente accesa fissa.

Ancora grazie per l'interessamento;

purtroppo pero' il link che mi indichi non fa al caso mio in quanto:
a) ho una maledetta scheda ati radeon 7500 che non accetta i driver propietari
b) (penso sia una conseguenza di a) nel mio fstab non trovo alcun tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults,ro 0 0

Allora sono tornato indietro ed ho provato ad installare lm-sensors (http://www.logubuntu.it/?p=35) sperando di poter controllare la ventola, ma alla fine del test questa e' la risposta:

Quindi sono punto e a capo;
Ora l'unica cosa che a me viene in mente e' di cambiare la scheda video e metterne una che supporti i driver propietari sul mio notebook ibm T40? Secondo te e' fattibile?
In qualche maniera, a costo di cambiare distro o addirittura computer devo risolvere il problema perche' il rumore dopo un po' mi urta veramente i nervi e che gia' non li ho molto calmi di mio
