Sal,ve ho die problemi con la scheda grafica, o meglio...facico tutto quello che c'è scritto in [questa guida http://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Hardware/Vide ... deonDriver e va tutto bene, mi dice che i driver sono quelli, che li ho installi e tutto ( solo che con sudo vim, o nano, /etc/X11/xorg.conf modificato ma se poi llo riapro non c'è salvato nulla, è normale?) solo che si vede sempre male

dai da terminale
lspci|grep ATI

cosi vediamo che modello di scheda grafica hai

Nella guida mi dice di controllare se la scheda grafica è compatibile ed infatti lo è ma non va

La scheda è compatibile ma l'accelerazione 3D potrebbe non funzionare molto bene (sperimentale).

Credo (non ho provato) che tu possa comunque installare i driver proprietari

RIPETO: non ho provato, quindi fai una ricerca nel forum prima di fare malanni!

Altra cosa: se hai "difficoltà" nell'editare xorg.con con nano, apri un terminale, dai sudo nautilus, cerca il file e aprilo con gedit, così ti sposterai tra le directory in modo più "agevole" e userai una applicazione più "amichevole"

Grazie per la risposta, ho provato a cercare "Radeon X700" ma il forum mi trova tutti i risultati contenento anche solo la parola radeon

ps quando scarico un programma su windows clicclo sui .exe (se Setup.exe non c'è) per installarlo, su ubuntu quale file con che estensione devo cliccare?

su ubuntu ti ''sciali'' col terminale per installare (good)

Ho provato ad usare sudo nautilus ed è molto meglio

ora le cose che modifico me le salva, cmq riavvio e la guida iniziale che ho seguito mi dice di fare:
glxinfo | grep vendor
vendor deve essere SGI ed lo è:
server glx vendor string: SGI
client glx vendor string: SGI
OpenGL vendor string: DRI R300 Project

poi mi dice di fare:
glxinfo | grep "direct rendering"
e deve damri si:
direct rendering: Yes

e qui mi dice: Se ottieni No direct rendering allora molto probabilmente la tua scheda non è supportata dal driver open source. Potrai installare il driver proprietario fglrx per la tua versione di Ubuntu. Attenzione: se installerai il driver proprietario, non potrai utilizzare AIGLX, poiché ATI non fornisce driver in grado di supportarli.

Quindi se uso i driver proprietari non posso usare gli effetti 3d?:(

Ora anche i driver ati proprietari possono usare aiglx

Comunque a te il comando glxinfo|grep rendering cosa ti dice?

la 3d è già abilitata non ti resta che provare a far andare compiz

poi vai in Sistema>preferenze>effetti visivi e metti la spunta a personalizzato

e compiz-fusion dovrebbe partire in teoria

mi esce questo:

ps effetti visivi non c'è, c'è aspetto, finestre e main menù che ptorebbero essere ma non vi trovo in nessuno dei tre una spunta su cui cliccare

che versione di ubuntu hai ?

sistema>preferenze>aspetto>effetti visivi

il comando
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

controlla anche nel tuo sources.list di avere tutti i repository attivi

C'è None, Normale e Extra, avevo Normale e ora ho messo Extra ma non mi è cambiato nulla (devo riavviare?)
