Risoluzione dello schermo

Ciao a tutti, spero mi possiate aiutare.
Ho da poco sostituito il monitor 17" lcd 1280x1024 con un nuovo 20" wide 1680x1050.
Il mio problema è che tutte le volte che riavvio il pc la risoluzione torna a 1280x1024 e devo settarla ogni volta che mi logono a 1680x1050.
Come posso salvare la mia risoluzione ed evitare di risettarla ad ogni riavvio?

aggiungi la modeline con la risoluzione che vuoi nel file etc/X11/xorg.conf

Ho provato ma non cambia niente...
